Hello all,
We have an SBS2k with ISA running. ISA is configured with packet filtering
enabled and clients have proxy client installed.
We're trying to punch a hole to allow Itunes to work using the Internet.
We havent been sucessful. Does anyone out there know exactly how to
configure ISA/Proxy to allow Itunes through?

Thanks for your responses,
Reggie Dones

I can't for the life of me imagine why you would need access to Itunes at
work, but this link should provide the answers

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93396

That was pretty easy to find

Please don't shoot the messenger. This was a request from the top. I'm
just trying to accommodate them and they were advised of the of the risks

I'm curious though, what type of applications are added to the Firewall
Client/ Application Settings under Client Configuration in ISA? RealPlayer
and ICQ are listed in the Application Settings and I'm curious what type of
application needs to be in there. Would we need to enter anything for
Itunes? I guess I'm confused to what goes through the Firewall and what
goes through the Proxy Client/Server.

Thanks again Cris.

Define "work".

You are not going to be able to enable iTunes "sharing" with the
internet easily (and this is a security hole anyway), but for basic
downloading from the iTunes store, there shouldn't be any need for
anything more than HTTP.

If you have multiple iTunes users on the LAN, they should be able to
share with each other without any problem.

There are two types of proxies involved
WebProxy which basically is anything travelling across Port 80
Everything else goes through Winsock Proxy which requires the firewall
client software and you must have specifically setup in ISA

MS has added some "well known" apps with filters alreadey such as ICQ and
Real. Given that MS and Apple have never been too friendly don't know
that you'll ever see Itunes in there.

Hope this answered your question. If not maybe you can re-phrase it
