    - VPN Clients Can't Access Network I have a SBS 2K server, all SP's installed. Now my VPN clients can't access the network, Exchange, etc. It worked untill the last couple of months. Apparently, one of the Microsoft updates "fixed it." Any ideas how to give network access back to VPN clients? They cannect and are registered, they just can't do anything once connected.     - Outlook I currently have MS Exchange 2000 installed and access internet mail via a cable modem using earthlink.net. Users access their mail via Outlook 2000. Users can send and receive mail fine except to a few select mail servers (e.g. aol.com). When trying to send mail to these servers a message from the system administrator is sent: The following recipient(s) could not be reached: 'username@aol.com' on 8/29/2003 7:02 PM There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <servername.domain.local #5.5.0 smtp;550 REQUESTED ACTION NOT TAKEN: DNS FAILURE> Is there a configuration setting on either the exchange server or in outlook that will rectify this problem.     - HTTP 500 Internet Server error I very urgently need asnwer to this plzz z if anyone can help me out i will be more than greatfull to him/her. I have installed Win2K Server using the Win2k SBS CD ROM. Now the prob is I have installed IIS but when I try to run a .asp file from the browser it gives the error mentioned in the subject. This is a standalone machine with no network card. The settings that I have tried are 1. Properties of the default web site in IIS and the IP address option was unassigned. Then documents tab has indes.asp added in first place. Home dir is c:\inetpub\wwwroot (I have my asp files in there) then Execute permissions are scripts only. Thats all the info I tried running the file in browser this ways 1. http:\\127.0.0.1\index.asp 2. http:\\localhost\index.asp 3. http:\\personal\index.asp (where personal is my comp name).     - RPC Problem?! I had a nice running Small Business Server 2000 system. At=20 least till last Wednesday. The Problem: When I start the Server, I receive the message that=20 several services couln't be startet. So I go and see! DHCP=20 Server is not startet, DNS neither. There are to many=20 errormessages - so I can just add some. The point is that after starting the DHCP Service and the=20 DNS Service everything works fine!! But somehow they can't=20 start at the beginning!     - Trying to install SBS SP1 getting error I'm trying to install SBS SP1 and I'm getting this error "Service Pack 1 (SP1) Setup Requires 125 MB of disc space on the containing the ClientApps shared folder in order to deploy Windows 2000 service pack 4 to client computers. Delete unnecessary files to free up disc space, and then run SP set up again" I'm a little confused. My ClientApps shared folder is on a drive (D:\) that has 2.32 Gig Free. ClientApps is located at D:\ClntApps\ClientApps5 Is it possible that this is my problem (different name ClientApps5 not ClientApps). And if so can I just rename this file.     - trend virus question I have trend and it is working great (the old sbs version). It is catching the so_big virus and delteing the attachments. I am getting hundreds of these a day though and the clients are not happy. Is there a way to prevent anything from reaching the client computer?     - Computer not recognized on network.... I have my SBS2000 all set up. I have 3 workstations attached to the domain rihgt now. The only problem that i'm having is that when i'm in the Admin console, and I'm under 'computers', I can't add software to the computer that i'm highlighting. It says that it can't find the computer or it's not part of the network.....which i can't understand being that it's showing up in that window. Can someone explain this to me?     - SCSI or IDE Hard Drive Replacement I posted a question earlier about upgrading the HD im my SBS 2000 machine. I was considering trying to ghost over the info from a SCSI drive to an IDE. After reviewing the responses I got the impression that even though IDE drives have come along way I should still stick with a scsi drive. I use my SBS to do several functions but I do not use SQL Server or use it to host a web site. Would you experts up grade the hard drive with another SCSI or Go with IDE?     - OWA Contacts issue Hi, I'm running a SBS2000 sp1 and a couple of hotfixes... My issue, in OWA, I can create new Contacts, nothing paranormal ! But when I want to use them, I can't add them, they just don't exist in OWA... While with the MAPI client (Outlook2000), ta da daaa, my Contacts are there, no problemo !? Any idea ?     - What Virus pkg? After yesterdays debacle with the Nachi virus, my client is finally willing to spend a few buck on a virus pkg. Does anyone have advice on what's out there and what they cost? I don't want to just blindly buy from the big boys if there's something better that only pros know about. What about Sophos? I used their download to fix our problem and it worked well. On the cheap side, can you install homeowner type ($50) on just the server and not bother with the clients behind the server? Or do those cheap packages not install on Server OS?     - sbs 2000 domain joining across cisco vpn tunel Hi, I am working on joining remote xp clients to windows 2000 domain across vpn tunnel established between cisco routers. The main site where SBS 2000 is located has an ip scheme of 192.168.0.x and the remote site (only xp clients) has an ip 192.168.2.x. I can ping the server from the remote site and vice-versa. However, I am not able to join the domain or perform anything else except ping. SBS 2000 server has exchange 2000, dns,dhcp,wins and ISA running with firewall services disabled (functioning as web caching engine only). Client are mostly xp machines. XP clients located at main site have no issue in logging or joining win2k domain. Only clients at remote site are experiencing this problem. Both sites have dsl and static ip. Cisco claims that there is nothing wrong with the tunnel or routers config (1700 with vpn pack and 800 models). This error is recevied when trying to join remote site clients to domain: The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain boyertwnymca.local: The error was: "DNS name does not exist." (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.boyertwnymca.local Common causes of this error include the following: - The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS. - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone: boyertwnymca.local local . If the client is disconnected from the lan, the client logs in, without being authenticated of course. When the client is connected back to the lan, dhcp shows that an existing ip that did not expire is being used. Thanks for your help.     - AcrServe2000 question Probably not the right forum, but someone might have a clue... Running ArcServe 2000 with agents for BAOF and Exchange on SBS2000. The pruning job and saved everyday backup job always shows ACTIVE. I cannot stop the job or do anything. This has caused the backups not to backup, as both the pruning and backup jobs are locked.     - VPN between two SBS2000 sites I have a client with SBS 2000 - 25 users on one site and SBS 2000 - 10 users on another site who want to link their sites in order to transfer files. As they both have ADSL, I thought a VPN between the sites would be a cost effective method as the files are quite large mostly >8MB. Has anyone done this successfully? What configurations are required on the servers (IP address ranges etc.) Have you used VPN enabled Routers e.g. Vigor? or appliances like SonicWall VPN Routers?     - DNS problem After changing my Internet connection (ADSL with second nic) using the wizard. Suddenly the clients get a wrong IP address when trying to PING the server name Example: The severname is: WINSERVER The normal IP-address is: 192.168.16.2 When opening a DOS box and typing: ping winserver The DNS sets it to: 192.168.16.45 And ofcourse there is NO reply After a while the system corrects itself but after some more time it happens AGAIN Due to this Outlook can not be used because the Exhchange server cannot be found....     - SBS2000 CD2 SQL 2000 I used CD2 to install SQL2000 on a test machine in our office. I installed SQL2000 and Enterprise Manager etc...all seemed to go well, until I received an error message when adding more MB to a Primary Filegroup: Error 1827: CREATE/ALTER DATABASE failed because... Question: Does SQL2000 that gets shipped with SBS2000 work with large amounts of data? The error message told me that the version of SQL2000 I am running cannot accomodate greater than 3GB per database.     - BIG Exchange issue i think! I have taken over from an administrator who has moved on from servicing this client and left me with a nightmare! Standard SBS config with 5 clients all XP Pro. Apparently the old admin guy was doing some remote admin work and decided to upgrade trend, and then BANG no exchange. I have had a look at the server and found that in exchange system management there are no servers shown or in the admin console. Also missing is the default m drive that's created when installing SBS exchange. I have checked out the knowledge base and found little info but I have ran DomainPrep again in case it was connected with this. DomainPrep executed and ran successfully but failed to re-instate anything. Has anyone come across this before? and what can i do?     - Forced Server Migration - help! We upgraded an existing SBS 2000 with service pack 1a (windows 2000 pack 4). We got a services.exe error 128 and system continually reboots (safe mode? no help).     - Exchange Problem A customer is having a problem with Exchange... Detailes follow: 1. SBS 2000 is an upgrade from 4.5 2. Configured DNS with forwarders. 3. Reviewed all TCP/IP settings to standard configuration. 4. Setup "Fully Qualified Domain Name" on advanced properties of SMTP Virtual Server to be the same as the ISP's MX record. Changed from spi.local to mail.domain.com 5. Ran Internet Connection Wizard. 6. Port forwarded TCP Port 25 to our server in the Router's config. 7. Verified that Port 25 is open. 8. Called ISP and had them change the MX Record. 9. ISP sent a test email to a user and verified he received the email. 10. Changed a users' email config to work off of Exchange. 11. Started Import of pst file. (This is where the problem starts). a. After running for some time it error'd out with "Operation Failed". b. I noticed that the inbox now had new messages but other subfolders were blank! c. Tried the import again. and had the same error except now there is only the message that the ISP sent in the Inbox! d. Tried to delete that message and received "The item could not be deleted. It was either moved or already deleted, or access was denied" e. Tried import on another user and received the same message and symptom. Finally, I noticed that we could send messages using Telnet and messages were coming in but were being placed in the (Local Delivery) Queue. They would never be routed to the correct location. Tried deleting the messages from the queue and stopping and restarting SMTP, Exchange and finally the Server. Any new messages would stay in the Local Delivery Queue and never be processed. The failure occurred during initialisation of network address translation because the config property msfpcname of the key software\microsoft\fpc\arrays\{7188908F-4832-427B-8655- D9E93F10DEC1}\policy elements\dialup entries\{207A6E97- 491c-46bf-A05E-0D7Edf6764C6}\credentials could not be accessed. Use the sourced location 2.1927.3.0.1200.235 to report the failure. The error code in the data area of the event properties indicates the cause of the failure.     - Welchia//Nachi Any help appreciated.. SBS 2000 with ISA got infected with the Welchia/Nachi worm when some clown decided to switch off the ISA firewall whilst testing internal Cisco VPN client. Needless to say the server was not patched, and they noticed an increase in the uploads since (TFTPD). I have since removed it by using the tool and checking out the registry and open ports etc. My question is that I tried to load the patch MS03-026 several times and it goes through the motions and restarts, but it's not listed in the add/remove programs as it is on other servers I have loaded this on? To start with I would like to configure Exchange to receive internet email however I would like Full logging as was configured in Exchange 5.5, do do I turn ion full logging so that I may trace if email is being received or not ?     - New post, problem re-defined The exact symptoms are: If the internet line is connected, the server runs barely at all with max cpu usage. If I disconnect the internet, after about fifteen minutes the server is back to normal speed. If I later try to re-connect the internet, the thing slows to a crawl again. I don't see any viruses in the process list, but DLLHost is using the most cpu cycles, it may be getting commands from a hijacked process or it may be hijacked itself.     - URGENT Help...Exchange Down M Drive gone Well the exchange server is down obviously. The M drive is not being shown in My Computer. The only back up the client has is the Priv1.edb and Pub1.ebd dated today in the E drive in Program Files/Exchsrvr/mdbdata. I have no idea why the m drive is gone.
