I have a problem with my SBS 2000 server. When I start the WMI (Windows
Management Instrumentation) service, it uses up all over 90% of CPU time and
slowes the server right down to a crawl. My tech. support, stopped the
service & disabled it so I can run at normal speed for the time being.
Problem is, without WMI started, i get frequent application log alerts. Any
way to fix this problem? I was running Windows 2000 SP3, installed SP4,
still same problem. Please help.

Could be that the WMI got corrupt. You can build a new one by first stopping
the winmgmt service, then move the \system32\wbem\repository to somewhere
else and after that restart the winmgmt service.
Do you also have some MSExchangeSa errors? In that case, have a look at
article 326011.

I tried your tip, of moving the repository, then restarting the winmgmt
service. Still did the same thing, started using up to 100% CPU time (had
to disable it again). Any other suggestions??
