Hello All,
My client box (Win 2k svp 4) is returning dhcp errors with
event id: 1002. In some cases, this will occur followed by
a crashing of internet explorer. The exact error message
as it appears in the event log is shown below.

Source: dhcp
Category: none
Event ID: 1002
Description:
The IP address lease 192.168.16.15 for the Network Card
with network address 000000000000 has been denied by the
DHCP server 12.242.*.* (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK
message).
Does anyone know where the 12.242.*.* ip comes from?

Thanks in advance,

Lenzy

How many nics in your server? Is there a router on the network? Is it
possible that it's trying to do DHCP-serving as well?

There are two NIC's, no router. How can I determine if sbs
2k is trying to do dhcp serving?

If you've setup the SBS right, it should be doing the DHCP-serving. Check
services and see if the DHCP-server-service is running. But if you don't
have a router, you don't have that problem. You aren't running ICS, are you?
What are you using the 2nd for? How do you connect to the internet?

Yes, I have dhcp services running. One NIC is used for my
broadband connection to the internet, the second is used
for my internal network which runs through a 4 port hub.
I'm not using ICS at all.

Check the bindingorder of your nics. Internal nic should be on top. Internal
nic should have a blank gateway. External nic should be in a different
IP-range and its IP should point to your router. DNS on both internal and
externaln nic should point to your server-IP.
Did you run the ICW-wizard from the SBS-console?
