 - Web Site Hosting Problem I am running SBS 2000 and am having a problem getting my websites to publish. I have two web sites I am trying to host. (My box has two nics and I am using host headers) I have installed the frontpage 2002 extensions and can see and work with the default web site just fine. However I cannot access the other two sites with frontpage or the server admin pages. When I try to go to the site from the admin page it says: 11001 - Host not found Internet Security and Acceleration Server ----------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- Technical Information (for support personnel) Background: This error indicates that the gateway could not find the IP address of the Web site you are trying to access.  - FAX services SBS 2000 Hello, I have the fax service running and it receives faxes fine. I have it setup to receive a fax and send it to sending it to emial and to print. The email portion works 100% but printing is a little shakey. Some times a blank sheet of paper prints other times nothing. Ad then sometimes it all works. Any clue? Tag: Help!  - ISA security A workstation part of the SBS2000 network connects to a service called OASIS by modem. After a successful connection the workstation will need to use ie's browser to submit claims.  - TSServer Licence needs Hello all, I'll be gals when this TServer is in and done. One (with many parts) more question. If I use Windows 2003 Server do I need to purchase TS licences for W2K clients? I know that XP and W2K do NOT need TS licences for Windows 2000 Server. How much are TS licences? I read a post suggesting that If I buy Windows 2003 Server I can install Windows 2000 Server from my existing SBS disks and use the 2003 Server licence to cover it, is this true? M Tag: Help!  - SP4 is not available for client deployment Hi, I installed SBS SP1a which included SP4 for 2K server. I have 2 problems. 1. The install instructions indicated that the SP4 would be available for attended install the next time a client user logged on. Does not happen and SP4 is not available in the the add software app. Outlook 2002 is avaiable for deployment. All clients are Win2K SP3. 2. I cannot access the modem.  - Limited time access to a computer I would like to set a limited tme to a computer, to which an user shall have an access. In the user addiministration pannel it is possible to set this. I observed that it is working tis way so the user really canot logon if the time is not right. But as long as he is logged his computer works regardles of the fact that his time to logon is over. Is there any way to limit a time the user uses his computer (this mean closing th session after the user time is over). with regards Marek Staniewski Tag: Help!  - Access to a file We have set up an agreement with an outrside andomistrator who will get from us a full remote acess to our server. I wander if there is any way not to allow him to access a disk with our company data? Theoretically no problem but since he is an administrator he will probably make an access to the drive.  - SBS Freezing Up I have a Dell PowerEdge 2600 Dual 2.4 machine with 2GB running SBS (Exchange and ISA) with 16 users. This system has been deployed for about 7 weeks now and a problem has occurred for the last two weeks or so. Every few days the system basically locks up and requires a reboot to get everything running again. The course of events begins with the Information Store shutting down and basically the system just gets slower and slower from that point until a reboot is done. After the reboot everything is good again for 2-3 days and the same issue occurs. Each time I have verified that the Info Store is down and you can not simply restart it - that fails as well. For the time being I have set a dependency on the Info Store service that if it fails to reboot the PC. Hopefully this will buy me a few more days. Any suggestions? Thanks Kevin Tag: Help!  - Event ID: 2019 nonpaged pool empty Recently we had a problem at a customer's site where 12 of 16 desktop PC's were failing. These are Dell Desktop PC's. The failure occured every 5 days, like clockwork. When the failure occured the event viewer was filled with: "Event ID: 2019 Description: The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty" Note that 4 of the customer's PC's did not develop this problem. Task Manager, Performance tab, showed that the "non-paged" Kernel memory was slowly but steadily being used up. This resulted in a non-functioning PC after 5 days. Researching the event on the internet led to: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;177415 "How to Use Memory Pool Monitor (Poolmon.exe) to Troubleshoot Kernel Mode Memory Leaks" The use of poolmon indicated a problem with a "tagged" driver, where the tag was "Smax". http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;298102 "How to Find Pool Tags That Are Used By Third-Party Drivers" Poolmon requires the user to watch the display for hours. Several high usage "tags" were noticed. Several of these tags can not be found using the above method. Presumably these are Microsoft drivers, and therefore need not be found because they could never be a problem. Hah. The driver found was: c:\winnt\system32\drivers\smwdm.sys driver name: smwdm.sys file version: 5.12.1.3508 modified: may 28 2003 This driver is used by the "SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio" device. The driver is authored by Analog Devices. The remaining 4 not-failing PC's had a different driver: driver name: smwdm.sys file version: 5.12.1.3538 modified: dec 20 2002 Note that the revision number differs in only one digit. We used device manager to disable the SoundMax Integrated Audio. Task Manager, Processes tab, showed that the Kernel Memory Nonpaged usage growth stopped immediately. Trying to do the right thing, we went searching for the updated driver. Since these were Dell PC's, we went to the Dell driver download site. At the Dell site, the SoundMax is also named "Analog Devices AD1885 Integrated Audio" . Unfortunately Dell only provided the failing driver version, and not the newer version. Yes, the 4 non-failing PC's were Dell also. Dell does not keep the drivers download section up to date. We went to the Analog Devices site. Unfortunately, Analog Devices does not provide drivers for download, and instead refers users to the PC Manufacturer or Mainboard manufacturer. Since Dell was not helpful, we looked at intel, who manufactures the Dell mainboards. Intel provides many drivers for many motherboards, and many drivers for "Analog Devices AD1885 Integrated Audio". But these drivers appear to be Mainboard specific. We did not have the option of traveling to the customer's site, and dis-assembling each PC to determine the Intel Mainboard identification. An updated driver for these PC's has not yet been found. But we have at least solved the main problem. The loss of sound capability can be handled. This problem has cost us a considerable amount of time and trouble. The result of the problem is a mysteriously dead PC. Since Dell, Microsoft, Analog Devices, and Intel were all involved, it should have been much easier to locate and repair. I post this here in the hopes that others may be spared the time and trouble. I plan to use MS Access for the client forms (I know it integrates with SQL Server), and to use Quickbooks Pro too.  - Still have probs with DHCP Hi, I've read thru the posts here and tried the fixes w/o success. Here's what I have done: 1. I have a SBS 2000 with 1 NIC. Default setup. 2. If I set static IP, I can see / login to server. 3. DHCS, WINS, DNS all running w/o errors. 4. Added 003,006,044,046. to DHCP scope. No change. Even tried 015. No change. 5. Tried 046 with 0x1 and with 0x8. No change. 6. Problems exist with workstations running XP Pro and also Win98. Static IP's work fine. 7. Tried to remove autosense from NICs.  - Office chaotical Pinging problem I'm running my 13 PCs educational computing class for about 2 years - I have 1 Windows 2000 Server running as Domain controller and NAT and 12 workstations runing Windows 2000. I was making my cleanup re-installation on all the workstations and server and then something went wrong - a lot of ICMP (Port:0 - I supose it's Ping reply) messages started to travel around local network and soon after that outside my office on internet. The only way to stop it was to install the firewall on my server(that's when I first saw the amount of the connections and IPs where the messages where delivered-all the 159.*.*.* and 192.*.*.* domains - Latvian Locales), but it helped just to make the server work properly otherwise it hanged up (even mouse wasnt responding). But the firewall made some other headacke for me - there was no internet on any other computer than server, once I removed the firewall - the pinging started again. One night with only server working on the internet, there was ~50Mb of internet traffic only of ICMP(Port:0) Packets (~212bytes each).  - Terminal Services Printer Ports missing Hi I have recently tried to install a print redirector on a SBS2k server running TE remote and noticed that all the terminal services printer ports have dissapeared. I am wondering how to get them back. Also the client is running on xp pro SP1 and when loggong on to a terminal session the server wont even try to detect the printer. I have made sure the map cleint printer is enabled but as I mentioned before there a no TS001,TS002 etc on the server properties in the printers dialog box to map the printer to manually.  - Server Rebuild Procedure I need to rebuild my clients SBS 2K server, there are 30 clients (win2k&98), there is also another Win2k AD server as part of the domain. How do I proceed with the least amount of agro to the clients ? The server currently has a fault whereby it reboots itself randomly say twice a day or could be every two days, it sometimes goes for a week without rebooting. It's been virus checked, I even took the hard drive out and put it in a Dell rack server to see if it was a hardware problem but the fault persisted. It's also on a UPS so it isn't a power problem. I've re-installed SP3 to no avail. I intend to install SP4 shortly, but I don't think it's gonna solve the problem. The Sys&App logs report only that the last system shutdown was unexpected, there's no blue screen, sometimes there is a bugcheck report, but trying to decipher that is fruitless as it nearly always tends towards hardware/drivers and since I swapped the whole server out for the Dell I've ruled out hardware.  - Security Access between two Servers We presently have two servers connected to each other cia a Switch. Each of the two servers has a distinct Domain set up. When I am logged on to one of the servers as Administrator and I navigate to the other server via Network Connections in Windows Explorer, I am asked for a password to access the folders. How do I set the security in one server to allow access from the Administrator from the other server, so the user name and password would not be required to get in? Now it has been removed, and when I test th ports in grc.com I have loads of open ports: 25,110,135,139,143,389,1026,1029,1720....  - ISA install - cd key Problem - Small Business Server 2000 Migration Pack We have outgrown SBS2000 (# of Users) and are upgrading via the Small Business Server 2000 migration Pack to multiple servers. Following Microsofts "Microsoft Small Business Server Migration Pack White Paper" we are doing native installs of the applications we want to move off the SBS server on to other servers migrating the data and removing the application from the orignal SBS server. The instructions say to install each application from the supplied backoffice cd's using the product key supplied with the CD's by going into the applications directory on the CD and running setup. This works with everything except ISA which asks for a 10 digit CD-Key. The one supplied with the migration pack is 25 digits. Anyone run into this before? Tag: Help!  - Internet access whilst dialed into a customer Hi My company has to dial into customers' system to support them. Once we've connected we cannot access the internet through ISA server. I've tried unchecking 'use default gateway on remote network' and also setting a specific route to a server on the internet as a test but always get the message 403 Forbidden - The ISA Server denies the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). (12202) I can't understand this because I thought that my IE would ALWAYS send requests to the proxy server and, therefore, routing from the client machine wouldn't be an issue. However, i have the opposite problem whereby my sbs is named local.mycompany.co.uk (i suppose it should be mydomain.local these days!) if i type "http://local.mydomain.co.uk" into a web browser, the dns cannot resolve the name properly (it is attempting to find this on the www) and i get a timed out.  - Directory Services Cannot load I have a SBS 2000 server and on loading Windows it states that Directory services cannot start and gives error 0xc00002e1. I see from Microsoft's knowledge base that the fix is to ensure that Administrator and System accounts have full control on NTDS folder and files, and that System account has full control on root drive and % systemRoot% folder. this is set, but I still get the error.  - External access to IIS failing Hi, I have an on-going problem and as such have not found a solution. SBS SP1a, 2 NIC setup (internal and external IP's on seperate NIC's) and I cannot access OWA, TSWEB, ADMIN web, PRINTERS or any other folder in IIS from the internet. I can access the above mentioned on the LAN using internal and external IP addresses (http://server/exchange or http://212.32.58.xxx/exchange), but when I try and connect through the internet, I get time-out errors. I don't get prompted to enter a username / password. I have checked ISA and IIS settings as per MS, IIS is listening on the internal network, ISA is configured to pass all incoming requests on port 80 to IIS. ISA Server is config'd with Web Publishing Rules. There are 2 rules config'd, 'BackOffice Web Publishing Rule' which is set for all destinations to redirect any request to the servers internal ip address and send original header check box is checked. Ports that rule directs to are 50, 443 and 21, respectively. Rules sets to redirect HTTP as HTTP and SSL as SSL. The other rule is called 'default', applies to all destinations and is set to discard any request. All options are grayed out. I have checked folder permissions in Windows Explorer and IIS snap-in.  - last emails please help Hi I have made a bit of a mess upgrading a user to a new laptop and have lost all his email from his inbox.. When setting up his vpn conection I did this from home and his laptop was setup with a new install of win xp with all the defult setting eg running as a workgroup pc. The vpn was setup and conncted in to the server and I thought I might as well setup up outlook xp an this connected to the exchange server and found the user and I clicked ok. out look warned me that it was going to dwn load all email from the server to out look and I thought that this would be ok.
