HI all

I'm having real problem with the companyweb part of SBS W2k3

I've tried installing the update which claims to fix the problems with it
but windows update cannot install kb832880

I've also run Windows SBS 2003 setup and uninstalled and installed
"Intranet" again and again but this problem will not resolve.

Why wouldn't it install from the SBS setupdisk in the first place??

Please help, I cannot get the helpdesk or vacation calender to work without
this installed properly.

TIA

Rob

You can request a replacement disk 3 (the sharepoint issue) from Microsoft
and then you won't have the problem.

Are you logged on to the server as Administrator and it won't let you
install the update?? or as a user with admin rights???

This has been a know issue since Dec 2003

Renaming the original Administrator's account has been known to cause issues
in SBS. Contact MS UK for a replacement of Disk 3

Rob:

Here's a KB article with a procedure to remove and then reinstall WSS...

How to remove and how to install the Windows Small Business Server 2003
SharePoint Services Companyweb Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;829114&Product=sbs

Also, see the NOTE at the bottom of the KB article for installing 832880
after the procedure.

And this thread contains an uninstall/reinstall procedure, too:

You can rename the administrators account, but only if you have =
completed the setup of SBS and have run all the wizards. You will =
encounter issues if you rename the account after the first part of the =
install of SBS (ie. W2k3).
After completing setup, you can rename the account without any issues at =
all.
I had to do this because I migrated from a Dutch SBS 4.5 to English SBS =
2003. So I setup SBS 2003 and run the CEICW wizard. Then I renamed the =
2003 account so it matched the 4.5 account to be able to migrate the =
users, computers and mailboxes and I haven't changed it since.

Merv,

I've done that with no joy!!!!

I've even downloaded site server 2.0 from MS and tried that with no joy.
I've ordered a new disk 3 so will wait 5-8 weeks for that to be delivered.
I think Bill should have brought it round personally! lol
