Has anyone re-installed SBS2000 using the CD3 route for AD
Configuration Files, then done a (NTBackup) Restore of
System State to put Domain & AD back in place?

Easy, tough, considerations?

Any pointers appreciated.

thanks

I don't follow what a "CD3" route would imply?

The only methods that I've seen MS document for recovery of AD is either to
attach another DC to the domain before wiping the server, or you have to do
a plain W2k install, then boot in DSRM mode to restore the DC from backup
with System State and AD intact, reboot and repair any hardware driver
issues.
