Can't seem to get Firefox browser running on clients (and server SBS2000)
even after changing proxy settings? I already have pin holes in the router
for proxy settings, firewall seems to be ok. Any ideas?

You put a browser on the server? Why in the world are you needing a
browser on the server at all?

You don't surf at the server period. Take it off as it's only
introducing insecurities and a false sense of security. I don't think
you want to be installing a new Firefox every two weeks on that server.

To get them working on the workstations, there is no need for
pinholes....so what did you open up?
