Today I began receiving an error in the Application Event log. The heading
says PerfLib. The message is:

"The open procedure for service "FileReplicaConn" in DLL
"C:\WINNT\system32\NTFRSPRF.dll" failed. Peformance data for this service
will not be available. Status code returned is DWORD 0".

Has any one encountered this before? Thanks for any assistance.

Joe

Joe,

This is a cosmetic error and can be safely ignored. To keep the events from
filling your Event Logs, the easiest way to fix this error is by using the
extrlst.exe tool to disable the performance counters for this DLL (you
normally only need these if you are base-lining a system using Perfmon).
You can download this tool from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/exctrlst-o.asp

To remove the error message, run extrlst, locate the entry for NTFRSPRF.dll
in the list of performance counters, and then uncheck the Performance
Counters Enabled check box with that entry highlighted. You may have to
reboot to get the changes to take effect.
