1. Set Up Router Connection to ISP screen produces the Warning! message:
ISA will not be configured in this configuration. I'm using the local IP
address 192.168.16.1 for the router (I can telnet to it just fine), and the
DNS addresses Sprint gave me.

2. When ICW "completes" after providing an error message and showing the
location of the log file, the Configuration status shows the Internet
connection configured successfully, the ISA Server settings were configured
successfully, but it was Unable to configure Microsoft Exchange Server
settings.

We have internet connectivity as we can browse the web. I just need to get
Exchange going. Help if you can! Thanks!

Take a look at the setup procedures at:

http://www.smallbizserver.net/sbs2000/network.aspx

In a standard 2 NICs setup, the router should be in a different subnet that
the SBS network. SBS defaults to 192.168.16.x so your router should be some
other range (like 192.168.1.x). Generally, the router would be x.x.x.1 and
the external NIC would be x.x.x.2 in this subnet.

Hi,
The most likely cause the ICW is failing to configure Exchange is that there
is a non-standard set of Relay restrictions in the SMTP Virtual Server.

Open Exchange System Manager
Expand Servers, ServerName, Protocols, SMTP
Open the properties of the Default SMTP Virtual Server
Go to the Access Tab and click on Relay
Make sure that "All except the list below" is selected, also that "Allow all
computers wich successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list
above" is checked. The actual list of computers should be empty before you
run the ICW for the first time, so if you have any entries here, remove
them.

If the ICW still fails after these changes, proceed to post the icwlog.txt,
you will see the information on where to find it if the ICW fails again.

Regards,
Damian

ICW Fails by Britt

Britt

I should have mentioned this is a 1 NIC setup. The ADSL
router is plugged into the hub. Server IP address is
192.168.16.2 and router is 192.168.16.1.

I found an article (How to Use the IP Address of Your
Internal Network Adapter for DNS) that said to use the NIC
address as the primary and secondary DNS server. ICW says
this cannot be done and prevents me from proceeding to the
next step.

I'll try the recommendations and post the log if it fails
again. Thanks!!

Britt:

Have you looked at this article...

How to Configure a SBS for Full Time Internet Access with a Single Network
Adapter
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;309633

....though I'd really encourage you to move to a 2 NIC configuration so you
can use ISA in firewall mode.

That's right. ISA needs 2 network interfaces to operate in Firewall mode.
Is there a particular reason you don't want to use the preferred two NIC
setup?

And you might want to look at this thread for the logged errors:
Error 0x80072030 returned from call to GetBOConnector().
Error 0x80072030 returned from call to CopyRevertConnector().

I inherited the server with a single NIC. I'm trying to get them to add
another NIC, explaining to them the issues. Like pulling teeth!

To solve the Exchange errors, I had to remove registry entries for Exchange
and reinstall Exchange. That did the trick. Exchange is up and running
great now! Thanks for your help!
