Hi,

Is there a fix to stop Ex2000 stealing all available memory yet? I
have read about problem on NG's but appears as tho MS havent found
cause and fix yet.

My current fix is to stop and start Information Store - not desireable
tho.

As more and more memory gets used clients get kicked off domain, not
good.

CLive

There must be something else wrong:

Smallbizserver.Net - FAQ > SBS 2000 > Exchange 2000 > Why does store.exe

How much Ram do you have? Any errors or warnings in the event log. What do
you mean by kicked off the domain?

I have 1gb ram and within 3-4 days styore.exe has gobbled up 700mb
ram, as more ram goes XP pro worksations have a habit of, what appears
to be, having connection timeouts to the domain and have to be
restarted and log back on.

Nothing in the event log either.

The memory issue has been written about on these news groups
previously, its not anything new.

Exchange uses all available RAM by design. The fact it uses all available
RAM isn't a problem, issue, or whatever.

In most cases Exchange hands back the memory as other tasks request it, it
is extremely rare for Exch to create a problem where it does not hand back
the RAM, but it does happen. Systems with fewer third party apps are
unlikely to strike the problem (IME).

I see you're a bigpond broadband user. Wouldn't be in Sydney per chance? We
could have a chat if you like.

A test for memory is to open up a lot of IE windows, you should see that
store.exe will release some RAM.
Your issue with the XP clients sounds like the problem we had, unrelated to
Exchange.
You should look at KB 814112, and then KB 321098 if you still find copying
files slow.
