Hello,
I currently am working on a SBS 2000 system with the
default exchange server 2000 installed. It recently
developed a memory leak on the store.exe and will run out
of availble memory in about 3-4 days. I recently patched
exchange server 2000 with SP3 for exchange, hoping it
would fix it. However it has not. I currently have SP4 for
Windows 2000, and all of the other updates are installed
as well. Are there any other patches or know issues with
the store.exe that might help me to resolve this issue?

Please help

Thanks in Advance

I have 1.4gb on the system.. thanks for the reply but it
hasn't stopped.. it's crashed the server several times.
The reply sounds crazy.. almost like buying a wallet that
was "designed" to have a hole in the bottom of it.. so you
can expect to lose your money.

Thanks again

Sorry, but you used a bad analogy .. try this one:

You buy a 4 bedroom house, but you're told you can only use one bedroom.
Why? Because you may have guests come over one day, and so you need to keep
the space available.

Duh? That's the attitude, unfortunately well drilled into many of use for
many years --- that you've got to have plenty of spare memory available in
your system, just lying around, not being used, 'cause PC's won't work if
all memory is used up.

So, why buy 1.4GB of memory if you're not going to use it all?
As is, Exchange is smart enough to not only use up a fair amount of
memory -- it will give it back if another application needs it.

But, Kevein, while it was designed to give back the memory when needed , it
appears that it is not letting it go and crashing his system/. Instead of
the smug attitude how about helping him out?

By the way, go to 2 Gigs and see if it helps.

Hi Andre,

If Exchange is not giving back memory, then there is a problem.

How about A/V software? What do you use, and are you scanning the M: drive
or any of the exchange files/folders ?

Or this:

XADM: Information Store Runs Out of Memory While Processing an NDR Message

JC, sorry you thought I was being smug. That was not my intent.
And, Andre - if you read me the same way, I apologize.

I was simply responding to Andre's remarks that (and I quote): "... the
reply sounds crazy.. almost like buying a wallet that was 'designed' to have
a hole in the bottom of it.. so you can expect to lose your money.".

I would suspect that if his system is crashing, there's something else
involved. Perhaps throwing more memory at it might help, as you suggested -
but I wouldn't bet on it. Now, it may well be that he has a bad memory chip,
and replacing some of his memory might alleviate the problem.
