This error cascades to Exchange POP3, MTA Stacks, Information Store and IMAP4
won't start. Needless to say, Exchange is down. System is a fresh install
with no service packs. This is after a fresh install with SP1a with the same
errors. SP1a install also had Exchange SP3 rollup and KB870540 and 813840.

Can you please post an ipconfig /all for the server. (and I trust you
didn't do any MS security updates or hotfixes before you got SBS 2000
completely installed from the CDs).

Great tip.... futher investigation led to discovery that external adapter and
internal adapter were configued backwards. External had internal config and
internal had external config. Curious that we were able to surf the internet
this way thru ISA??
