Hello, I am wondering if I can install Exchange Server 2003 standard on a
server running SBS 2000. It seems to upgrade the actual Exchange 2000
(component of SBS) to Exchange 2003 is the best way to get an Exchange 2003
organization, to keep the public folders, and to do a simple move of
mailboxes rather than have to run Exmerge.

The ultimate goal would be to move it all to a new Exchange 2003 server
running on Windows 2003 server.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I don't think you can do it... and even if you could this would be a very
bad idea.

Huh? I think the "best way" to do this would be to upgrade to SBS2k3...
cheaper, easier and supported.

To keep thinks real clean, exmerge is really your only option. I know the
versions of Exchange Standard and SBS Exchange are not similar in some ways.
I confirmed this once with a call to PSS. Take a weekend and go the exmerge
route as it will save you potential problems later with any other method.
