I have just installed SBS 2000 on a server with only Server and Exchange
options. The installs seems to have gone ok and no errors appeared in the
event log. I have installed Virusscan and Groupshield and configured the
exclusions. Outlook is installed on the server and when i try to connect the
Outlook 2000 SP3 client to the Administrator account it opens, you can see
messages in the inbox but the lower pain is grayed out and the program
freezes and stops responding I then have to stop the Outlook.exe service.

I haven't tryed to connect any clients to the server as this is supposed to
replace the existing server and I can't have the two servers on the network
at the same time.

I have checked the event logs and can't see any Exchange related errors, I
have also checked the services and all seem to be running ok.

This has really stumped me:-( I am supposed to be swapping the servers over
at the weekend but can't when it is in this state.

OS Platform:

SBS 2000
W2K SP4
EXCH 2000 SP3
Outlook SP3
Virusscan Enterprise
Groupshield for Exchange 2000
DNS seems to functioning correctly
Exchange services start and stay up

Thanks in advance for any help

Can you connect at least one client computer to see how that works? There
are issues with installing Outlook on the Exchange Server. Although many
people have not had problems doing so, it'll be difficult to narrow your
problem down to a specific app (Exchange, Outlook, Virusscan, Groupshield,
or something else) from Outlook installed on the server.

Microsoft does not recommend installing Exchange Server and Outlook on the
same computer
