Hi All, I ran my updates today on my SBS2K server. All updates were those
released in February. First stopped and set to manual all 3-rd party
services. Updates installed fine and server restarted and came up fine.
Only problem, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service as been on
Start pending for quite some time now. I rebooted again and same exact
problem. Please give some advice on how I could solve this. Thanks!

Nothing at all in event logs. The only thing showing up is that my
controller battery needs reconditioning. I wanted to get this going before
beginning the battery reconditioning though.

Hi Mike,

Well, you don't have many clues. Can you refresh the services and check if
the IS is running or try to restart it? Are other services started that are
set to automatic? Which controller battery are you talking about?

Disable antivirus and any other 3rd party software and then maybe try to
stop/start the Store or System Attendant?
AV software isn't scanning drive M: , right?

Thanks for your response. I did as you said and stopped all third party
svcs. Unfortunately I rec'd the note that "it did not stop in a timely
fashion." I then went and stopped the MTA Stacks - same message. I went
ahead and stopped WWW Publishing Service - same note, then I stopped the
System Attendant and finally it stopped as well as the above services. I
then restarted the Microsoft Exchange services and thankfully, they all
started with no problems. phew!! I started the Info. Store as the last
Exchange Service and it started while I was holding my breath. I was then
able to start all of the antivirus services which coincidentally, they were
not started as I had them set to Manual before I rebooted the server so they
never stared in the first place. And no, AV is not scanning the M: drive.

Thanks again for your reply. It certainly helped me.

Hi Marina, The battery is for the Controller's Management Software. Also,
you will see in my later post that I got the services started again.
Thanks for your response. Now that the services are running, I set my the
controller battery to recondition.
