I need to create a user in SBS2000 for the purpose of
allowing an individual to receive e-mail through our
company's domain (ie: user@example.com).

I went through the create a new user wizard in SBS2000,
but now I need to have all the e-mail that comes to that
particular user forwarded to a different e-mail address
(ie: user@yahoo.com).

How do I accomplish this? Will this cause any problems
in SBS2000? Is there anything else I need to be aware of
when doing this?

TIA for all your help!

In AD users and computers create a new contact, set the contact with an smtp
address of user@yahoo.com. You can then go in to a user account, exchange
general, and it to forward to this contact.

Okay, I went into AD users and computers, and the user is
already setup. So, I went into Properties for that user,
then went into the e-mail addresses tab and added the
smtp e-mail of user@yahoo.com. I then went into the
Exchange General tab, and tried to setup forward email to
user@yahoo.com. I get an error message stating it cannot
find the e-mail address, etc.

Did I do this right? If so, why is it not working? If
not, then what did I do wrong?

Thanks for helping,

Torrey Lauer

No, you need to create a new contact not a user, if this user doesn't log in
to the system, just delete his account and create a contact instead. If he
does log in to the system, undo the changes you made to his account, then
create a new contact, Go to the properties of the users account, set it to
forward to this contact.

go back to the user and change the address to the domain email address =
as you originally you had.

Then you want to create a NEW contact in AD and then as Moishe indicated =
create an smtp email address for the new contact with the yahoo address.

Then go back to the original user's properties > Exchange General and =
Delivery Options and you can specify there for the mail to go to the new =
contact with the Yahoo address.

For more assistance the following Knowledge Base article is available to =
