This is more of an FYI.

I have been working at this client for over a year and the idea was to set up a nice little network with a Corporate server and a Financial server. I have WSBS2003 on the Corporate box and W2000 Server on the other

I had purchased the VXA drive with the understanding that we would be able to back up all data on both servers with ease

I found out today that using Veritas 9.0 or 9.1 will not work with Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 Standard on the VXA Tape Drive if you want to use the Remote Agent. Basically I cannot back up ANY data from the W2000 box...at all

Veritas management told me that directly and apologized for the situation their technical folks put me in. We even purchased the Remote Agent license and a WHOLE bunch of tapes just so we could do this

Now I'm not saying the product doesn't work, in fact, it works very well when I back up the WSBS2003 box...alone

So if you are looking for a small business solution like mine, you may want to look at some other options. Oh yeah....does anyone have any suggestions for me as far as Tape Drives that DO work on this kind of a setup

Thanks for listening!

Are you stating that BE for SBS does not allow for a remote agent?
That is true and most annoying but at the price of BE for SBS not a
lot of room to complain. At one account we had enough space on the SBS
so I mapped a drive letter L: to the a shared folder on the SBS called
FIMSBACKUP. I run a Ntbackup to that share and let BE pick everything
up. Not as cool as using the remote agent but who wants to spend a few
thousand for the BE, Exchange agent and remote agent.
