hi all

I'm have trouble with rebuilding my SBS2K offline on a new machine
(named SONE) (with different hardware).

A clean SBS2K has been installed on SONE, Exchange SP3 and SBS2K SP1 has
also been installed. Then I try restored the system state from the
backup. Everythings look fine till this point.

I restarted the server, and while starting Windwos, a blue screen came
up.... said somthing like "INASSESSBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"...

So I thought that was because of the different hardware so I tried to
repair the windows using the SBS2K Disk 1. However, the blue screen is
not going away after the repair... same error message says
"INASSESSBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"...

The existing SBS2K is running on a RAID5 SCSI HDDs, and SONE only got 2
IDE HDDs... would this be the cause of the problem? How can i fix it?

I'm planing to rebuild SONE (again!), so I'd appreciate if anyone can
show me the right direction. All I want is to rebuild SONE offline and
replace the current one when it's ready.

thanks in advance.

Hello,

The kind of scenario you have got is not recommended in any case and blue
screen is always promised. Restoring the system state backup is supported
only on same hardware, if there is a difference between the hardware then
blue screen is expected. running the repair on domain controllers is not
recommended and especially if it is a SBS. the other option you have got is
to promote SONE as an ADC to existing SBS and then proceed further.

Incase if you need any help then you may contact me at
karanrustagi@hotmail.com you might try me on IM with same ID.
