I am trying to delete a file. I keep getting an error indicating that the
file is in use. Looking at computer management does not show this file in
use by anyone/thing.

Is there some utility which will show you all locked files and what/who has
them open??

Thanks, Brad

Hi Brad:

Some files you just can't delete. If you boot in safe mode, or turn off all
processes you might then be able to deleted it, but if it is in use by a
Windows Service it will come back when you restart the service.

For example, Windows and related services keep lots of log files and temp
files open. You won't be able to delete them until the process or service
is done with them. For this reason, try sorting the list by date, and
delete only files older than today. In some cases you have to go back
further than that.
