Hey All

I put a message up here the other day with the following content
----------------------------------------------------
We're currently running sbs2000 with exchange as a smtp server.

There seems to be delays in receiving our emails, some come through straight
away and some seem to take ages, the system had been working ok for quite
sometime but over the last month or 2 the problem has be come quite a
problem.

We are having reports of people sending emails and us not receiving them for
2 days or even more.

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem could be and how to fix it
-----------------------------------------------------
Marina Roos was able to give me some idea how I could diagnose the problem
but am still kinda stuck

I have pasted the content of the header below, maybe someone can see what
could be going wrong. I have substituted some domain info and emails for
security reasons.

OK. Are you using the POP connector? I don't have any info on your setup.
What's your domain name?

Peter

the domain is sexton.com.au

Our server at our office is running exchange and acting as an smtp server.

So I would have thought all email would come the client directly to our
server and bypass the telstra.net server

i've used dnsstuff.com to get info on mail.sexton.com.au but it always seems
to have problems

Are you using a POP connector?

I can't connect to mail.sexton.com.au on port 25 - is port 25 open in your
firewall/ISA?
Can't connect to your secondary MX of postoffice.telstra.net on port 25
either. I presume that's a mail server at your ISP?

For DNS report, you have to put in the domain name, not the FQDN of the mail
server...as in, check sexton.com.au
