Hi,
Thank you for posting here.
Although your current subnet is not 192.168.2.z, the existing DHCP device
can also assign this subnet to the client. Based on my experience, the
problem should be caused if another device is provide the DHCP service in
your network. To troubleshoot this issue, the best way is to capture the
network traffic data. After that, we can find the MAC address of the
existing DHCP device and then you can check what device/machine is
providing DHCP service. To do that:
1. On the SBS server, install the Network Monitor. To do that, please
follow the steps below:
1) Open Control Panel, double click Add or Remove Programs, and then click
Add/Remove Windows Components.
2) Double click Management and Monitoring Tools.
3) Click to select Network Monitor Tools, and then click OK button.
4) Click Next. You may be asked to insert the Windows Setup CD.
2. Capture the network traffic data on both network adapters of the SBS:
1) On ISA server, click Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Network
Monitor.
2) Click menu Capture | Network, select the external NIC of the ISA. Note:
we can specify it by using the MAC address of the NIC.
3) Click menu Capture | Buffer Settings, set the buffer size to 100 M.
4) Repeat Step 1) to Step 3) to open another Network Monitor, and then
configure it to monitor the internal NIC of the ISA.
5) On 2 Network Monitor windows, click menu Capture | Start to start the
capture.
6) Try starting DHCP service to reproduce the issue.
7) On 2 Network Monitor windows of the ISA server, click menu | Capture |
Stop to stop the capture.
8) Click menu File | Save as, to save the captured data into 2 .cap files.
9) Send the files to me.
Please let me know the MAC address of the SBS server so that I can filter
the data. Thank you.
Best regards,
Cameron Ye
