Forgive me to ask this very basic question:

How do I create a folder in SBS2K in order to give access only to a group of
user? I do not want anyone except this group to see the contents of the
folder.

I created a group (eg. MyGroup) from AD and added few users including myself
to this group. I can see this group name under ..\Mybusiness\Group folder.

I then created a folder (eg. GroupFolder) in the Server and select
properties.
I choose "Do not share this folder" in the Sharing tab.
I added the MyGroup in the Security tab with Full access.
I remove Everyone from the Security tab.

When I try access to the file folder, I got the error "Access is denied".

What did I do wrong? Thanks in advance.

Ron

You need to Share the folder in order for members of the group to access
it.
Your Share Permissions and Security determine who, and what level of
access there is to the Share. ( Make sure you Propagate Permissions to
Child Objects and have them inherit the Parent permissions )

Thanks Henry.

I can access them now when I try it today. I guess it take some time for
the server to do the job?! I wonder if there is a way to expedite the
process?

(BTW, I did share the parent folder but not the sub-folders. We can see all
the folders, the problem "was" we can not open them.)

Curious. I find it's pretty much instantaneous.
Glad it's working.
