I have come to the conclusion that my SYSVOL files are corrupt, and
the FRS service cannot start. Only now have I realised that I should
be making System State backups.
Is there a simple way to start again with a fresh SYSVOL set?
The only resources I can find on the web suggests that I restore from
another domain server, but this is SBS - there are no other servers.

I'd be grateful for any ideas offered.

Before pursuing the obvious, my first question is if you have a system state
backup.

My second question....

is your logon process working?

Having a broken replication on an SBS is not the kiss of death.

You symptoms would be useful info.

Jeff, thanks for your attention.
I have now resolved the problem by deleting the sysvol folders and
recreating them. The trick to overcome my earlier stumbling block was
to boot in safe mode, thus avoiding the locked folder which was
preventing deletion.

Thanks anyway, Paul.
