I have a user who uses SBS 2000.
Their mail is currently picked up from individual ISP mailboxes using the
POP3 connector, but recently, users have stopped receiving mail. Internal
mail is still working fine.
The POP3 folders (incoming, inforward, failed etc) are all empty, as are the
queue and pickup folders in the vsi1 smtp folders.
Looking in event viewer, I see event 4032 occurring, but the content doesn't
look right:

Event 4032
A recipient has been processed. Recipient information:
NDR Status Code: 600
Error Code: 00002745
SMTP Reply:
SMTP Name: <user>@maildomain.com
SMTP Host: <server>.InternalDomain.local

Now as I understand it, the NDR status code should be returning 1 if all is
well. This is coming up for any users who have mail delivered.
The email address is correct, and in the recipient policy in exchange, the
external maildomain is ticked for the server being responsible for all
delivery.

Any clues of where to look next? I'm stumped!

Hi James,

This issue can occur if the Internet Mail Service does not know how to
route the messages, and can occur after you enter the information. The
Internet Mail Service cannot find the server by name, and the name
resolution functionality is not set up properly.

To resolve this issue, determine how the computer is performing name
resolution locally.

Hope it helps,
Thanks!

Is your antivirus on the server scanning the \Exchsrvr folder?

Or, do you have McAfee Netshield AV?
