Is it possible to connect a remote client (XP Pro, broadband, always on) to
the SBS domain?

I have defined the clients in the SBS wizard and assigned the applications I
want them to have. I created the Connect Computer disk, ran it at the client
and successfully created the VPN connection. Also, I can connect from the
client to the server by way of Remote Desktop. So all the links are working.

However, when I ran the connectcomputer function it informed me this can
only be run on a LAN.

How do I go about pushing out the software (Trend CSM Officescan,
Outlook2003, XP updates, etc.) so that this computer becomes managed by the
Server? I would like it to act as though it were on the LAN.

Or is this not the way it works?

Thanks for your advice and assistance.

You can install the Trend by locating the autopcp.exe. Kind of slow
over a vpn but it works. You can set the remote workstation to update
from the Trend site instead of the office. The new product has a
wizard. The old product requires a bit more I think.

Remote users kind of need to learn to run updates on their own. They
should learn to do it on their home machines anyway. SAves you from
calls about dead personal machines. Good luck on that one.

Outlook is 150 megs. You will age a bit trying to set that up over a
200k vpn connection. I made a copy of the CD and mailed it to the
remote user.
