We have two SBS boxes installed in two different branches of our company.
The setup of two SBS were made in hardwares almost 100% identical (Dell
PowerEdger 1600).

As the two machines were installed in different moments and by different
people, we believed that they have different configurations.

Respecting the characteristics that are own of each installation of SBS
(domain name, users accounts, users files and folder, etc), Exist some tool
or tip to compare the two boxes and detect the differences? Maybe to compare
with a third installation, 100% clean and to detect the differences? (ISA
rules, DNS and DHCP, Windows configurations, etc)

The Objective is to have the configurations the most similar possible.

Differences into Registry, INI files, configuration files, version of DLLs.
I understand that the task is not easy. Maybe impossible. Maybe the simplest
way is reinstall the boxes starting from the zero, writing down and
following the same steps in the two branches. Does anybody have some
different idea?

Thanks

Marcelo

Hi Cris,

Yes, this is the situation. Sometimes I have problems in one of the =
servers and I don't have in the other.
The installed softwares, services pack and updates are the same ones in =
both servers. The extra softwares (antivirus, no-break, etc) they are =
the same in both servers too. But I feel that they don't behave in the =
same way.

This week I had lots of errors ID 1008 / PerfLib / "PSched" into event =

didn't the other server have the same error? The modifications that I =
did to correct the problem did in just one of the servers. And the =
other? They should be identical.

For that is that I would like then of comparing the two SBSes. May be to =
compare with a clean installation, with all SP and fixes installed.

Thank you,

Marcelo

Thank you,

You are right. These boxes will have different problems, in different =
times. It doesn't matter if the hardware and the software and =
installation procedure are the same ones...

I only imagined if somebody knew some sorts things out of comparing the =
configuration of the two boxes. Maybe some tool of third. =20
=20
This tool could also be useful for the field technicians, when arriving =
in a new customer to compare the customer's box with an standard =

I understand the difficulty and complexity of a tool like this. But it =
would be an excellent tool :-)

Hi Cris,

Yes, this is the situation. Sometimes I have problems in one of =

The installed softwares, services pack and updates are the same ones =
in both servers. The extra softwares (antivirus, no-break, etc) they are =

This week I had lots of errors ID 1008 / PerfLib / "PSched" into =

Hi Marcelo

Agree with cris for the indepth analysis but something I thought of =

Two I find useful are Emco =

and Newt (freeware and professional)
