I am having a problem with SBS2000.
I have just setup a new SBS2000 server with W2K SP4.
When a client logs on it prompts:

Small Business Server Client Application Installer
It is recommended that you install the Windows 2000
Service Pack 4. Do you want to install this now? Yes/No

If i select Yes, it starts copying files and then
eventually returns error:

Setup Error
You do not have permission to upgrade Windows 2000.
Please contact your system administrator.

I have enabled the User and Computer options in Group
Policy to install with Elevated Priviledges but still
nothing.

If i select No to installing SP4, the Client Applications
prompts to install, if you select Install Now is again
says:

Client Applications Intaller
Administative access is required to install client
applications.

Is there a way to get around this without having to give
all my users admin permissions?

Hi Belinda,

I don't think so. SP4 should have been installed almost 1 year ago.
Make the user a member of the local administratorsgroup, install all the
programs that would need adminrights, then take out that user of the local
administratorsgroup.

I would have thought an easier way would be available to
do this. To do this on 30+ workstations is time consuming
and i've been told i can do it with Group Policy.

any other ideas?
