I want to change our server IP address from 10.0.0.2 to 20.0.0.2

Changing the IP address is easy, but this will obviously impact DHCP , DNS
etc

Is there any decent articles that explain how to approach this?

Thanks in advance

Hi Robbie,

On a SBS 2000 you will have to do it manually. Change the nic IP settings.
Change DHCP, Change WINS, Change DNS, restart all those services and rerun
ICW.

Why are you wanting to change the Local Network IP Address Range from
Non-Routable to Routable ?
...better to just use a different subnet eg 10.0.1.2

Marina has posted the manual changes you'll need to make.

so many thoughts, such bad typing skills (mine, that is).

SBS V.what? That's a 4.x address scheme, this is a 2K group, which is
perfectly valid, maybe it was a 4.x upg to 2K, have you also upgraded to
2K3? 2K3 has a wizard that does this for you.

Gotta point out.
Yep, going from 10.whatever to 20.whatever is a rather significant step,,,
and it depends on how you reached this point. In the (almost) defunct
classful addressing scheme SBS 4.x took liberties and applied a 24bit mask
(255.255.255.0) to an IP space reserved for an 8 bit mask. Most devices are
no longer confused by the (at the time MAJOR) faux pas.

but I don't think you've asked for info on what you want to do. I believe
you don't really give a rat's holler what subnet your local network uses as
long as you can access it via your public IP. If so, try rephrasing the
question.
