    - Help: Exchange Problems After Security Patch and MDAC 2.7 SP1 Update I'm running SBS 2000 w/Exchange SP3, ISA 2000 SP1, W2K SP4. I have OWA running over SSL and I had IMAP running over SSL. I installed the MS03-039 security update for the RPC bug and restarted the server, then I installed MDAC 2.7 SP1 and restarted the server. After the restart the Exchange Information Store didn't start up properly (not sure if it came up after the first restart or not). I restarted the service and it came back up. Then I noticed that I could no longer use IMAP externally. I get the following error: "Unable to connect to the server" However, IMAP access still works over SSL when I am logged in to the server. Also, when I try to change my password in OWA I get the following error after entering domain, id, new password, old password: "Error: An invalid Active Directory pathname was passed" This also worked before the two updates were installed. And everything else in OWA appears to be working fine. I've checked all the settings in ISA, and they seem to be exactly as they were before the problems started. I've restarted the IIS Admin a couple of times, and I restared the entire server a couple of times. Any help is very much appreciated. Tag: Can't logon to my XP computer Tag: 131266

    - Exchange Error 10065 I've just setup my exchange server, which is actually just forwarding to my pop account and I am recieving an error in doing so. The error is 10065.     - can this be logged? Hi, I am setting up my new SBS 2000 and was wondering if I can track the time employees login and logout of an SBS network. I would like to verify the time they claim they spent working. Can this be done for remote logins as well? I would like to see if they login over weekend when they claim to do work.     - Client PCs still losing their connection to the server :-( Hi, A few weeks ago I posted a question "Client PCs lose their connection to the server". Marina Roos was kind enough to help :-) and as a result I found the "welchia" virus on the server :-( Everything is now clean. All the latest patches have been downloaded and installed on the server and the clients. My virus software (Trend) is upto date. However, my client PCs are still losing their connections. As soon as one can't connect then I find that the others can't connect either. Everything was fine until I downloaded the first Microsoft patches - it's all gone TU since I installed them. I've swapped NICs between machines (should I buy and install new ones?). FYI, my original post is reproduced below. Does anyone have any ideas. Every so often, my client PCs lose their connection to the server. In Explorer I get a red X across the drive so, for example, when I click on my K drive I get the message "K:\ drive is not accessible. The networkpath was not found". Clicking on the drive letters several times does not get back the connection so I don't think it's the time-out issue I've read about. It's not always every PC on the network that loses the connection but, more often than not, it is. The only way that I seem to be able to get around it is by rebooting all the machines, starting with the server. I haven't noticed that I am doing, or using, anything unusual in the sense that the only thing that has changed over the last few weeks is as a result of the Microsoft upgrade (coincidence?). I'm running SBS2000 with a maximum of four client PCs. The server has one NIC and has the ADSL modem attached. Three of the PCs run Windows 2000 and the fourth runs Windows 98. I have found out that trend micro messaging suite does not dial up directtly to get updates.     - two machines, same problem, Exchange Drive M Suddenly I have two machines with the same problem..... Both machines are COMPLETELY different in hardware. The one machine is NEW (P4, 2,4Ghz 1024mb) IDE on promise4000 Raid1 120GB The other is dual P3 900 1024ECC ScSi 80GB (raid1) Both run SBS2000 Servicepack3 Both run Mcafee AV The last machine already for over 2 years without a hassle.... I just moved the second machine and put it to a new ROUTED SUBNET Internet Access. (it was behind a router with a DMZ) The other one is ALSO on a routed subnet..... I ran the ICW using two NICS. The one nic is connected to a switch for the INTERNAL network, the other directly to the Router. The only checked thing with the second Nic is TCP/IP Binding order is: Internal / External / RAS The external nic's DNS is the servers internal IP-address. The problem on BOTH machines: Exchange, although set to start automatic..... does NOT start Drive M is NOT created. There is a truckload of error messages.. RPC not started (with the older machine) ILS not starting (hangs) Until 20.00 when it was on the old router.... no problem.... restart and run. NOW, on routed subnet.... ONLY trouble...     - can't ping after Routing and Remote Access configuration Trying to setup a 'one-armed' VPN via Microsoft Routing and Remote Access on Small Business Server 2000. After configuring RRAS, my server looses internet connectivity. Can't ping ANYTHING except itself. Needless to say, all Outlook clients obviously freeze and the LAN can't see the server anymore. There is one error message in the Logs about RRAS not being able to contact DHCP, but I assume this is related to the drop in network connectivity.     - Internet explorer blowout on SBS2k All the sudden internet explorer has ceased to be able to get web pages on our sbs2k server IE6 returns the generic 'page cannot be displayed' dns error outlook express gives the error code 0x800CCC0E socket error 10060; a general failed to connect error. dns is fine with ns lookup, both nics can resolve any address i try. We are NOT using the isa proxy. at first this was intermittent, not i can recieve no web pages nor send external email. I can however get local web pages e.g. gateway router. Is there any way to specify which connection IE is using? As far as the firewa/router goes i've looked through the logs and it shows nothing blocked from either ip address.     - Help needed with my domain Here's my situation. I have SBS2000 with Exchange in a Central office - ROOT DOMAIN. There is another small office that has a W2K Server and 6 users. However, that office is not a domain. The server is logged in locally. The users login to their machine locally, but the server does provide some file and printer sharing that users have access to. My goal is to connect those users to our domain and have them log on our domain back at the central office. So I need to create a Organizational Unit in AD on our root domain.     - baby steps Hi! I think I'm back to taking baby steps again. I have a SBS2k PDC. I have a Win2k Server as member server (print server, terminal server in application mode, file server). We have a Netopia router. I can't get VPN or terminal services to work. Idealistically, I'd like the user to term serv in to the member server with their user rights. My question is this. If I point the router to the member server's ip address for port 3389, how is the login verified with the AD is on the PDC? How can I create client setup disks when the laptop has no floppy drive.     - Log on via VPN Hello, I am trying to figure a way for users at a remote site to log onto a domain via a vpn that goes through a dsl connection to a SBS 2000 server. The remote pc's are obviously not joined to the domain right now, and a user will sit down and click the vpn shortcut after they have logged on locally. I would like them to be able to sit down and log into the domain automatically. I hope this makes sense. I know that you can use a dial-up to connect to a remote network and log into the domain, but I have never set anything up that would use a vpn connection to log in. The reason behind all of this is to be able to monitor things like internet access (or block it altogether), and keep them from being able to tweak the local pc. Any ideas? Thanks!     - Help! - swamped by spam (w/ viruses) Just within last day or two I've been bombarded with virus laden spam all related to MS Security Updates/Notices/Bulletins etc. I'm averaging about 10 to 15 an hour! To make things worse my virus program (Panda AV) flashes alert notices everytime one comes in, which I have to manually close. I haven't figure out how to disable this yet. I thought about trying to set up some filters in Exchange but just about every email address is different! Any suggestions (short of disabling email). This is the worst it's ever been!     - An alternative POP3 connector, anyone???.. Hi all, I've got SBS 2000 at several sites, and at every site, the POP3 connector that comes with Exchange doesn't work. Every time the connector goes to d/l mail, it stops. I've set the recovery to recover constantly, which keeps it up most of the time, but mail seems to be going missing, which I assume is from the srevice shutting down while mail is half dealt with. I've got around this problem at a few sites by using CHimera's EFS (A fantastic little program), but this only works for global POP3 accounts, and this client, has individual accounts (and this can't be changed, for various reasons). Can anyone suggest (freeware or not) a POP3 connector which I can use for individual POP mail boxes, which I can then use to pass the mail to Exchange? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Followed all instructions as per this newsgroup and everything is running smoothly exceptly lately one XP workstation cant access mydomain.local and one win2000 workstation cant view any site in IE Both return the same IE error # 403 and then refer to ISA has forbidden access to this site ( 12202 ) We have a couple of websites blocked ( kazaa etc ... ) using the ISA server and these blocks work on all workstations. I have the new system all set up, but I don't know how to migrate users from my Windows NT 4.0 server (different domain) to the new server. SBS 2000 won't let me set up a trust.     - Deleting badmail We have a SBS server and it has started to play up. Back ups have started to fail and the CPU and the memory are being flagged in the Event Viewer. I have noticed A LOT of files in the Badmail folder and have found that I should periodically delete these but the system wont allow me to do it. I cant open the badmail folder and can only access the files by doing a SEARCH for *.bdp. When I try to delete then I can only do less than 30 at a time and sometimes I get "Cannot read from disc" errors. I have tried using scripts but they dont work either. I am open to ideas!     - Opening particular TCP Port How can I open a particluar tcp/ip port in SBS2000? The SBS2000 machine is running Exchange 2000 and ISA2000 and the ISA firewall is enabled. The machine has two NIC one for internal and one for external. I have already followed these steps listed: 1. Open SBS Admin Console 2.     - An ISA question.. re: dialup application I have posted this question in one of the ISA groups and so far no response, so I thought I would hit the trusty SBS group for a possible answer. Scenario: Customer uses SBS with an ADSL connection for internet access. Client machines behind SBS with ISA enabled uses a dialup application to connect directly to a non-internet connected service which uses TCP/IP and port 443 for connection. Problem: What is happening is that the modem dials, connects and then tries to communicate to remote port 443. Of course the firewall client then busily tries to route the traffic out through ISA and onto the net. Because the IP address range is not internet connected, the request times out and the modem connections fail. Of course by disabling the FW client it will get through but this is not practicle. (More so if it is NT4 SBS that use Microsoft Proxy.) What I need to know is if there is any way to set ISA to ignore/not route the traffic for the modem on the workstation when it is trying to establish a connection to this particular service. I ran windows update on my XP computer, and when I restarted it can no
longer connect to my SBS Server. I can't remember my local admin
account, and so I am completly locked out of it. It says that my
domain server can't be found. My other computers are connecting ok.
I remember one of the updates was someting to do with Rights
management. Is there anyway to get into my XP PC?

Browing through the KB - it looks like my computers are
having trust issues. Is there any trick to re-
establishing a trust using just the server? I have
absolutely no way of logging onto my XP machine.
