When my client accesses the emails via the Outlook Web
Access using IE 6 to the corporate email server running
SBS2000, only contact in the Global Access List is
available when she looks into the Address Book. Even when
the OWA is configured to search for entries first in the
Contact in the Option on OWA.

I have tested it by openning the Outlook Web Access via
the browser, and clicked on Contacts. Added a new
contact, and a new entry showed up in the Contacts
folder. Started a new email by clicking the To: button,
and the 'Find Names -- Web Page Dialog' showed up. Typed
in the name I just created and clicked 'Find'. 'No
entries were found' was then reported.

There is no such problem with Outlook client. When I went
back to Outlook 2002, I am able to find the name of the
person I just created on OWA.

Does anyone have any idea why I could not access the personal contact under
OWA?

Regards,
Antonio

You can access contacts just fine - you just can't necessarily use them as
an address book. OWA has its limitations. See if www.messageware.com looks
useful to you.

Can you just tell me what limitation it has on OWA2000. I have looked into
the articule 'Comparing Office Outlook Web Access to Earlier Versions' at
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/techinfo/outlook/OWA2k3_55.asp. It states
that user of OWA2000 should be able to use the Global Address List and the
Address Book.

Do you also mean that I can see what is in the Contact folder, but I would
be able to search items inside it? So I can only search for the contact in
the GAL, am I understand you correctly?

In OWA on E2000, you can

* check names in a new message against the GAL and your mailbox contacts
folder
* open your personal contacts folder and select a contact, and then send a
message to a contact

(Neither of these methods works with public contacts folders).

If you click on the Address Book, you only get a search feature and it
searches the GAL only.

Does this help at all?
