I have installed Brightmail AntiSpam on a SBS 2000 server running exchange
and ISA.

For some reason I am unable to activate the product through their
registration wizard. I am able to connect to the internet OK and all seems
alright but it just won't work.

Brightmail support have checked the installation logs and everything
installed ok and they say will work as soon as registered properly. I am
able to browse to their secure site ok and they and I are confused as to why
I am unable to contact the Brightmail registration server.

There is some sort of proxy server setting (I don't know why I would need it
anyway) which call for a username and password. When I enter the
administrator name and administrator I am refused access to the internet!
Not sure what's happening here either.

Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

Thanks
Paul

I am having the exact same problem. Has anybody figured this one out? Paul,
did you ever get this working properly?

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy
I had this problem a while ago
as I recall you need to set ftp for brighmail in ISA to allow activation and
database downloads
ISA management/server/access policy/protocol rules
make up an new ftp rule for brightmail
(I am not an SBS expert so may have done this wrong, but hey it worked!)
HTH, David, UK

PS Brightmail is a very impressive program once you get it running

It ended up that the Username I was using had to be entered with domainname
in front and Capital letters were important as well.

ie DOMAIN/UserName

Works well now

Cheers
Paul
