Hi,

I got a email attached with a MSAccess database but
blocked with the exchange server. How can I unblock the
attachment and save the attachment.

Thanks

Henry

Hi,
On my experience, you can't. I guess you are using
Outlook 2000 or 2002?
There is new feature called "Attachment Behavior" that
blocks Any attachment with an "unsafe" file extension.

You just have to order to resend the mail message
with renamed file extension, for example

rename database.mdb to database.aaa

and when you get it you have to rename it back.

Sorry, but wrong - you CAN work around this far more elegantly.

Check out MS Knowledge Base articles 829982 - You Cannot Open Attachments in
Outlook 2003 and 290499 - OL2002: Administrator Information About E-Mail
Security Features

Hope that helps,

David

Yes.

Once you apply the admin changes the attachments in emails already received
are accessible. The attachments are always 'there' - they're just blocked
from the user accessing them rather than the attachments having been removed
as such. This assumes of course that we're just talking about the
OL2002/2003 security settings as being what is blocking the attachment
rather than it having been deleted/blocked by either the ISA Feature Pack 1
or any anti-virus/firewall software on Server or Client.

But yes, if it's just the Outlook security settings the changes in those KB
articles will work OK.

Hope that helps ;-)

Cheers,

David

OK David.

Thanks a lot. I will try this.

Do you know how it works with OL2000?

As long as you have OL 2000 SP3, it should be the same as OL2002:

Opening .exe Attachments with the Outlook E-mail Security Update and Outlook
2002
