Well, it appears as though M$ and Prometric have mailed out the results of
their Beta test they released for the SMB test that just got
released.....well, at least they have released the passing letters :)

It still was not quite the "real world" exam that I would have liked.
There were many many questions that I know what answer they wanted, but
the reality was that you would never put some of these setups in actual
offices. Just as an example... there is NO WAY I'd be deploying a
server with 256 of RAM as the DC. Heck, my home "play" one has 512!

I would urge anyone who is interested to sign up as being interested as
a Beta tester for these exams. The more feedback we give to how "real
world" they are ...the better the exams will become [and more respected].

Got my 'official' results in the mail yesterday. It showed up on my
transcript a week earlier!

The only real world test I've seen is Cisco's and probably Novell's from
what I remember. People in Redmond never leave Redmond, so their questions
are always going to be a little out there. Then again, from what I see
other consultants do I think that some of those far out questions!!

for the most part though it really wasn't a bad test from some of the others
I've taken and I've taken almost 2 dozen M$ tests, another dozen or so
others. I never took a beta but it wasn't the first time I went into a test
"blind".

IMHO, M$ should have a CCIE type test where they have 2 dozen machines in a
room and they make you actually set it up and work with the scenario they
give. Make it ALL work. If they EVER did that I would be the first to take
it and then double my rates after passing!

The Netware exams I took years ago were appalling - silly out-of-date
questions that looked as though they had been set by someone who'd read the
manuals but hadn't ever seen a computer, let alone worked with a server or
set up a network.

Well, the ones I took had hands on where you had to add users, modify
properties and type in command line instead of pick A, B, C, D which is a
bit better. Granted, I took the 4.11 tests and did the 5 upgrade. They
were more straightforward and logical than M$. Comparitively speaking they
were better than M$. As I said, Cisco's were the most challenging: no going
back, command line entry, and 50 questions in 60 minutes meant you had
ABSOLUTELY NO TIME to screw around!
