Can anyone tell me what this folder is for and why my
clients get so many files in there?

Thanks,
Keith

Keith,

The Badmail folder is a folder that collects all messages that fail to meet
the criteria for a valid message, such as a message that has a blank
recipient or a recipient that was misspelled and will never arrive at the
intended mailbox, or if a messages is sent outbound from the queues but was
rejected or could not be deleivered, it will be collected in badmail, and
possibly, a undelivery NDR message will be generated and collected there as
well.

The reason that badmail seems to populate are varied, but most commonly,
due to open relay, spoofing messages that are being sent outbound from you
queues and are either not to vaild recipients or are denied as
undeliverable, and an NDR messages is generated.

The way to minimize the badmail folder content is to assure anti-relay
settings, and to avoid spoofing mail, by going to complex passwords and
changing passwords for all enabled accounts frequently. Also, disable the
Guest account if it is not in use.
