I am doing a scheduled backup with the SBS 2000 bundled Backup program. Have
a single Seagate drive using Travan tapes. When I try to schedule a backup
that runs every evening, appending to the existing tape in the drive, I
always get the message "operation not performed because no unused media was
available. The only way I have found to get around this is to open
Administrative Console, go to Removable Storage, deallocate and then prepare
each tape, every time I want to use one. The tape has to show as "free
media" "idle/available".

The problem with this approach is that every day I have to do this to the
tape in the drive or I get the message when it tries to do the scheduled
backup in the late evening. There is no way I can do an unattended backup
without someone physically deallocating and preparing the tape each day.

What am I doing wrong??
