Hi there,

I have search for the best way to remove logs (E000xxxx)
and been pointed to the smallbizsever site and It suggests
to run full/normal backp on "Information store and system
state". Does anyone know whether this is the only
requirements to successfully backup and remove trans logs.
And whether this can be done when users are active or only
after hours.

Thanks

This is the best way to get rid of the log files. A backup can be done
online, with minimal impact to users, it would probably go unnoticed.
Having said that, best practice is usually to schedule backups to run during
a quiet period, like early morning.

An online backup (Exchange services running) as described on Mariette's web
site, www.smallbizserver.net, will commit the transaction logs. Generally
this is run as part of the "normal" backup routine for your server (e.g., a
nightly backup).

Which begs the question: are you routinely backing up anything on your
server (system partition, system state, user data, etc.)?

Thank you for posting your question to the Newsgroup.

The following article will walk you through the process of using NTbackup
to backup and restore Exchange. Make sure you do regular backups of your
information store to reduce the number of log files
