Running the SBS 2003 Backup Configuration wizard, and trying to exclude folders, but it keeps saying that the folders are required to restore the system, or a sub-folder of a required folder.
I have a number of shared folders that just contain old archive information that needs to be available to users, but doesn't need to be regularly backed up. How can I exclude these from my backup.
TIA
Phil.

Any chance that these folders you want to exclude live under each user's
share folder? IIRC, the backup wizard is going to require you to backup the
entire Users share directory & subdirectories. If you want them excluded,
try moving those shares (perhaps create an Archive share) . . .

No it's a completely separate Share. It's on the same drive partition (I moved the Users Shared folders and various other things such as the exchange databases onto the second partition E:).
I have also tried to exclude some folders that are not shared at all.
It will allow me to exclude some, such as C:\temp, but not others which are on the second partition (E:).
I even tried creating a new directory in E:\ and it will not let me exclude this.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Phil.
