    - Firewall Client Installation Fails Someone please help!!!! Server: SBS 2000 Workstations: W2K Initially, I tried to install FWC by assigning the .MSI file to the workstation using group policy. The install kicked in OK, but froze before completing install. Second, I tried to install manually, logged on as local Admin account. This time, the following error is displayed: "Failed to copy C:\Program Files\Microsoft Firewall Client\internal_setup\setup_a.ini to c:\Program Files\Microsoft Firewall Client\internal_setup\setup.ini Internal Error: 0x2" Third, I tried Group Policy again, this time using elevated privilages.     - TS Licensing Help I am a bit confused re. TS Licensing. I know I need to install Terminal Services on the Application Server and TS Licensing on the SBS. However we have bought some XP workstations and we have a Volume License for Win XP Pro for some workstations that I will upgrade after they are connected to the servers. However when I activate the Terminal Services, I know I need the License Server ID (ie SBS ID)but I also need a License code for the Terminal Services client license pack but I thought I did not need to buy TS CAL's for XP Pro workstations. If I needed to use ODBC from a Win 98 machine to access an Access database table on the Application server, would I need a TS CAL for that 98 machine ?     - Lost files 6 months ago OK so I have a client that I picked up a few weeks ago. He was working on a job about 6 monthe ago, then their client dropped the cause of lack of money. Now the client is back, but my client has deleted all the files from his server for that job. He asked me if I could retrieve them, I said maybe...I had him download this http://store.yahoo.com/rognerud/index.html and and use it, but couldnt find those files that he needed. I asked him about his backups and he said that he probally wouldnt have it, since it was 6 months ago and it probally has been overwritten many times by now. Question A: Is there a way that we can get these files back using a cheap program mantioned above? Question B: What is a good backup routime scheme. I was thining about 1 full monthly backup (1 tape per month) stored offsite. 1 full tape per week, and run a differential on the non-full-backup days. Any help would be greatly appreciated...     - AOL and SBS2K I have a client that has SBS2K running, however the owner refuses to go away from his AOL account and I can't seem to get a straight answer with the AOL "techs". One of them even suggested turn off ISA, re-running AOL, then turning ISA back on. As of this moment, he can't use the AOL start up screen - just the log-in screen when opening up an IE browser window.     - "Re-create" user name Am having a software problem on one of our workstations that seems to do with her user account. The software company suggests I delete her as user and reinstall.     - hundreds of junk mail & badmail My server was used as an open relay. My tech. said he fixed the problem of the open relay.     - Help please - WMI causing server to slow to a crawl I have a problem with my SBS 2000 server. When I start the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) service, it uses up all over 90% of CPU time and slowes the server right down to a crawl. My tech. support, stopped the service & disabled it so I can run at normal speed for the time being. Problem is, without WMI started, i get frequent application log alerts.     - How to do this? Hi We have an SBS2000 server which has an access database running internally, supporting around 20 users. The server is connected to a broadband connection. Is it viable for us to run an asp.net web site on the same server that allows visitors (around ten on average) to view the content of the internal database? As you can see there are several issues here; performance of server, security, broadband bandwidth, access etc. If this is not feasible, what would be the recommended way to achieve this?     - Out of Office on Exchange I have the Out of Office reply running on the workstations attached to EXServer2K within SBS2k. Went into Global Settings and made surte it was checked to allow OoO replies ti internet mail (an original problem I had) and it seemed to work on the check out. Now, what I am noticing, is that once this people leave and turn off their system, the OoO is not going out, but if I turn on their systems and then try it, it runs perfectly.     - ClientApps installation I'm using the custom installation wizard to create an .MST for Office 2003 to run during client computer connections to the SBS server.     - Pop3 connector retrieves - does not deliver We have been having some trouble with our Pop3 connector. Set the logging to max. A certain user seems to be missing messages. While testing, I can see the message get downloaded, but no delivery event. Other users do have both a download and a delivery event. Checked all settings. Everything looks correct.     - Problem after update install ISA_SP!_x86_ENU Hi All I have just installed ISA_SP!_x86_ENU When the server rebooted it came up with some of the services could not start. The firewall service & WNI had stopped & all networked folders were not accessible.     - Default Shared folders, Admin Password, Outlook thru TS I am a SBS Newbie and am in the process of setting up a SBS2K server & a Win2000 TS in Application Mode. I have a number of questions re. the setup 1) I want to move the default company & user shared folders from the C-Drive to another drive. I have read the MS article 329640 on moving the folders but some help is required. The C-Drive is 12 GB, using 4 already, D-Drive is 34 GB and has Exchange Server installed on it and an E- Drive of 22 GB. Which would be the better drive to move the shared folders to or not move them at all ? 2) If I do move the folders, I assume the User setup wizard will know the folders have moved and to where and when using the magic disk the folders that appear on the users desktop will be mapped correctly ? 3) When I installed SBS, I used a basic password for the Administrator, but I have not installed any backup, AV software yet and from the postings it seems I should change the Admin password before I start doing any major software installations / continue with the SBS2k setup. Correct ? 4) I am also going to install Office XP on the TS in Applic Server Mode. Do I install Office on the C-Drive or the D-Drive ? Do I store the bespoke Access Database we use, on the D-Drive of the TS or on the SBS2k server ? Do I install any Accounting applications that we use on the TS as well or on the SBS2k server ? 5) Is it better for users to use Outlook thru TS ? or use Outlook from SBS2k server ? I have been told that using the internet thru TS takes quite a lot of bandwidth so best to use IE from the local desktop ? Correct ? 6) If I want to personalise the TS screen for each user, how do I save the settings created for user or is it better to have a default TS session screen ? 7) I have not tried it yet, but when I log onto a TS session am I able to view my specific users folder shortcut on the desktop or do I use my network places to find my folder on the SBS2k server ? For the past 19 years, PNC Advisors has produced a tongue-in-cheek Christmas Price Index based on the current prices for everything the 'True Love' buys in the song The 12 Days of Christmas. The Total Christmas Price Index, representing the combined cost of the goods and services, is up 16 per cent this year, with the price of the swans showing a particularly steep climb. "Unlike 2002, when swans took a significant dive in price, these graceful feathered friends have bounced back to their 2001 level of $US500 a piece, up from $US300 last year, according to the Philadelphia Zoo," the PNC report said. "The four calling birds are also flying high at $US400, more than a 26 per cent increase from last year." PNC has also put together its True Cost of Christmas index, which examines the total cost of all the items in the Christmas carol, including all its repetitions. This year, the 364 items total $US65,264, up from $US54,951. That is a rise of almost 19 per cent, smashing the previous record increase of 8.4 per cent in 1987. Jeff Kleintop, chief investment strategist for PNC Advisors, says the index's trends mirror changes in the wider US economy. "The index reflects the broader trend of productivity growth in the US economy that has driven prices lower on goods while allowing prices for services to rise modestly," Mr Kleintop said in a statement. "Whereas in the mid-1980s the cost of the goods in the song dominated the index, the trend over time has been toward lower goods prices, such as the pear tree and higher prices for skilled labour, such as the pipers," he said. "The abundance of cheap labour in countries such as China have contributed toward increased pressure on US manufacturers to outsource their unskilled labour overseas and evolve toward higher-skilled areas, to maintain profitability. "Unfortunately, the unskilled maids haven't managed an increase in price for their services in many years." Among the goods prices to drop were the five gold rings, down 5.6 per cent, and the pear tree, down 28.6 per cent from last year. The discounts were offset by the dancers, pipers and drummers, who saw big jumps in the cost of their services over 2002. "We have seen a record increase in the 2003 index, possibly indicating that the fears over deflation that we saw last year may begin to recede, as general price levels begin to pick up and the outlook returns to one suggesting the economic recovery may be sustainable," Mr Kleintop said.     - isinteg on Exchange 2000 on SBS We are running SBS2000. We are currently experiencing problems with Brightstor ArcServe2000 for Small Business Server. Out of around 30 mailboxes, around 5 mailboxes are reporting problems - CA Tech Support have asked me to run isinteg to check the mailbxes concerned - and if need be - I need to extract delete and re-import the mailbox. The SBS2000 box is a new one, and I ran Exmerge around 3 weeks ago to merge all the old mailboxes out of an old SBS2000 box and imported it into the new one using the 2- Step procedure. I now need help on this isinteg thing - I have not a clue how it works and how to conduct what I was told on the problematic mailboxes. If someone could kindly help me - this will be appreciated.     - Connecting XP Workstations to SBS 2003 I just finished setting up a Dell server with SBS 2003. I created five computers and 3 users using the SBS wizards. All three users have administrative privileges. The final message from the computer setup session is "... go to http://localservername/ConnectComputer" on each workstation you want to connect I did this on two workstations and got into the SBS 2003 connection wizard. The wizard asks for LoginID and Password. When I enter the required information, I immediately get a message to the effect that " ... the computer list and user list cannot be found on the server ... make sure the network adapters are configured correctly ... So what am I doing wrong? What do I need to do? I did not change any settings from those that shipped with the computers from Dell. I know I have connectivity, but apparently the server will not recognize the workstations Please help. I am desperate (no joke).     - VPN problem I am having a problem with the VPN connection(s). It was working fine previous to a Nachi worm attack. During and after the attack I may have mistakenly reset certain config settings trying to diagnose the problem before I realized the worm was active. We rectified the worm situation and I reset our remote access services via the ISA. Right now the remote client acknowledges that the VPN is connected, the server indicates that a port is active. The client cannot access any network resources. The error message of insufficient permission is given ....see administrator. This error is even when top administrator is logged in, remotely. I think that I am missing a basic configuration setting but my schedule only allows part time administration and diagnosing. The VPN was convenient and I would want to get it back up.     - SecureNAT access through ISA - no ping etc Firstly, my apologies for posting in here. There seems to be a lot more activity in here than the ISA groups. I am trying to find out if ISA can be used as a "transparent" NAT router (for want of a better description). I would like to be able to ping, telnet, TS etc. from inside to the Internet (on the external NIC). I realise this is not the best scenario and not something I would neccesarily deploy. I have read several docs on at least being able to ping out. No success at all. I have configured the client as SNAT, ticked the routing box in packet filters and ensured the icmp "allow" packet filters were enabled. The best I can get is ping to resolve a dns name to an ip, nothing more, no ping response. This has me, I have tried on 3 SBS servers now. All of these SBS machines have had ISA running and clients doing there thing normally. I guess the best way to describe the situation I am trying to emulate is that like ICS running on a WinXP workstation with a few workgroup computers accessing the net via it. ICS seems to let just about everything through. Is what I am trying to ask of ISA possible ? If so, I would be extremely greatfull for any advise on how to configure it.     - SBS 2003 Travan Backup I installed SBS 2003 on a server. The tape backup worked for a week and then when it went to overwrite the previous weeks data it failed. We tried many different ideas, deleting, inventory, free, restarting services, etc. Nothing seemed to work properly. Now it just stopping responding if you try to do anything with tape drive. It tries to mount the tape and then it goes quiet with a green blinking light. It seems like a driver problem, but I willing to entertain any suggestions. It's a Seagate STT 3401A drive. On my SBS2K I would like to use the auto detect ISA feature.
WPAD is setup, in DHCP and DNS.
In ISA client configuration, web browser and firewall client has been
configuret for auto detcion.
The ISA server has been set to Publish autodiscovery information, not on
port 80 because of conflict with the WWW server on SBS2K but on port 90.
I have createt a wpad.dat file and put it in WWW root on the SBS2K server
(that means port 80)
In this file I have put SBSKservername:8080 and it seems to work.

What I would like to know is, what to put in the wpad.dat file?

Any help would be greatly apriciated.
