I will be away for 3 weeks with the system being unattended.
We run a telephony app that must be running on the server at all times.

I would like to setup the server to AutoLogon with the guest acc with this
Telephony app in the startup group, this way if we have a power outage etc
the server will rectify itself.

Thanks

Henry

Doesn't that app use a service which can be set automatically?
I don't like apps running on a server needing the server to be logged in...

Will the app run as a service, thereby not requiring a user login? In
normal times, do you leave someone logged in at the server all the time? I
shudder to think about the trouble that could be caused by a malicious or
curious passer-by.

If you have to do this, maybe you could use a password-protected
blank-screen screensaver set to start in a minute or two.

See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310584 to enable
automatic logon.

If this application doesn't run as a service, you could probably run it
as a Scheduled Task instead. The only drawback with this method is that
it can't interact with the desktop, therefore if it pops dialogs up or
message boxes, you're stuffed...

I have queried this and the response is:

"You can use SRVANY or FireDaemon (or most of the other make-a-service
tools) to make VoiceGuide run as a service."

Any comments on these "Make a service" tools ?

Thanks

Henry
