Jeff:

I thought that was a pretty bizarre issue, but at least the caught it and
indentified some work arounds.
When I first saw it mentioned last week I was very glad I hadn't rushed to
install the SP.

Do your clients use AutoCAD? AEC or other field(s)?

yeah, I have a handful of AutoCAD customers.

I was an Autodesk dealer for a number of year, then a Truevision/3d Studio
dealer for a number of years.

Discreet bulletin has incorrect KB article. Correct = 823980, Incorrect = 832980 by mealsormissles

To All Concerned:

The Discreet bulletin (emailed directly to Discreet customers, others)
titled:

"ALERT: MS Windows Update - file corruption with 3ds max and Autodesk VIZ."

References two different (but similar) Hotfix KB numbers.
The Correct number is 823980. The Incorrect number is 832980.

The email reads fine if you substitute each instance of the incorrect number
with the correct one.
I'd hate to have anyone check their system using the incorrect number and
arrive at incorrect, or even near disastrous conclusions.

I'm looking for the right address to tell Discreet about this error so they
can post a follow up.

I dont' think so... the Correct number is NOT 823980. 823980 is not included in
SP4, it's our hotfix for 03-026 that just came out that is not included in sp4.

There is no such KB 832980

823980 is our RDP bulletin number that SHOULD NOT be pulled off.

SP4 includes these hotfixes..

Or at least get clarification from that vendor... I have a hard time believing that
a RPC fix would corrupt cad files.
