Hi,

I keep getting the application log full message popping
up on a regular basis. It fills up with lots of
information messages, mainly POP3 information messages.

I have altered the Event log Group Policy for this log so
that it will overwrite as required and I have used the
property settings of the application log itself to filter
out information messages - all to no avail, the message
still keeps popping up saying the log is full, and it is
with POP3 information messages?

Any ideas?

Regards,

Ken.

Ken:

The event log settings have usually been pretty reliable for me so I'm not
sure what to do there...BUT if you are getting tons of POP3 message then you
probably have the logging set high for them.
You can adjust those settings by:

-opening up your SBS Admin console
-drilldown to your Exchange settings
-expand "Connectors"
-right click on "Connector for POP3 Mailboxes" and select Properties
-the last tab is "diagnostic logging"
-adjust those settings (on most of my servers I keep all of the settings at
the "minimum" logging level unless there is a known issue I need to keep an
eye on).

This should at least cut down on the number of messages.

One thing you might try to solve the fact that it doesn't seem to take your
settings correctly is saving the entire app.log to a file and then wiping
the log and starting from scratch.

Hope this helps.
