 - Please Help Urgent Hi, I have Exchange 2000 setup in my organization. My ISP still hosts my mail. I am using Exchange to download e- mail via a POP3 connector which in turns delivers the messages to each user's mailbox. (User's are Exchange user's connected from Outlook) Problem: There are random times whereby a user may not receive some External e-mail. For some reason Exchange would not route the messages to the user's mailbox after downloading from the ISP. Here is an example. -I will send an e-mail from an external address such as hotmail -I force a download on the pop3 connector on the Exchange server -I check that user's mailbox on the server and it is not there -I check Outlook on the client and the message is not there either WHERE DID IT GO? Can anyone please assist with troubleshooting steps. I know that this is not the ISP because of the following: -I setup Outlook on the client to connect via a POP3 account -I will send an e-mail from an external address such as hotmail -I check for the message and it appears fine. I tried looking in the BadMail folder, I turned off filters in Clobal Settings -> Delivery and still no luck. BTW, does the POP3 connector on Exchange have a limit as to how many accounts you can define? PLEASE HELP AS IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING FOR USERS AS WELL AS FOR ME.  - Loss of POP3 connector in SBS 2000 Since removing ISA server from the SBS2000 server (for many reasons) i seem to have removed the POP3 connector from the server - hence no email... oops!  - IPSEC help with ISA - anybody have success? I am working with a large multinational that requires I access their site by passing IPSEC traffic. I was unable to get this working through ISA - so I've dropped ISA for now and am using a LinkSYS hardware firewall. This obviously does not provide the same benefits of ISA.  - Locking down one employees access to the internet I have one employee that I don't want to have access to the internet. His machine is running Windows 98 SE. Everyone else is a mix from 98, 2000, to XP PRO. The server is SBS 2000. What can I do to lock only him out of the ability to be on the internet, yet still get email through exchange and through the pop account? Any ideas?  - Push out Client updates - HELP!!! Dear All, I have set up SBS2000 and i am in the process of adding the clients to the domain, once client was running win2k SP2 and i noticed when the user logged on they had a prompt to ask with they would like to update to SP3. My question is can we use this to roll updates / SP's / apps if so i have managed to roll out winzip but would like some help on the SP's and MS patches etc.. can this be done and if so does anyone know how or know a good web site.  - Replacing a server We will be replacing the server on a small network (8 users). I would like to prepare the old server to be able to transfer the information to the new box. The old server will be removed from service, and the license transferred to the new box. Any suggestions on how to best accomplish this?? Thanks for any help.  - Symantec Corporate 8 clients not in server list I know this isn't a Symantec group, but hopefully you can help me with this Symantec "Small Business Version" question. Does anyone here know why I can't get the full list of computers on my network to show up in the Symantec System Center list. Out of 8 machines on the network, only 3 show up. The more disturbing thing is that there were 4 on Friday, and today there are only 3. I tried the refresh button, but nothing. Is there something I need to do to get the full list?  - Default 'Outgoing' EMail Addresses Hi all, SBS2000 installed at the weekend - all went nice and smoothly, so starting off OK [for once!] - strange query here - kind of a 'how to'... When setting up our users, I opted for the same login config as we'd had previously on SBS4.5 - namely InitialSurname01 as their username. That's all fine and thereafter once we'd done them all we went in and added the range of other email addresses we wanted to arrive at each user's mailbox also. Again, fine and dandy. Problem is really with regards outgoing mail addresses. I've tried setting firstname.surname@company.co.uk as the primary but this keeps getting immediately [or thereabouts] with initialsurname@company.co.uk Only thing I can think of is that this is being overwritten by the tick in the box for 'Automatically update email addresses based on recipient policy' on the same tab. When we go into Exchange System Manager and look at the default recipient policy it *appears* to offer only the option of setting the SMTP type as @company.co.uk [which I presume is causing the email addresses to be automatically updated as login_username@company.co.uk] - are there any settings either in here [kind of a fields thing - you know <firstname><surname>@company.co.uk] or anything anywhere else that we could set to resolve this? Or do we have to amend all the logins for all the users [which no doubt will mean chaos with the profiles etc on all our XP Pro clients] :-( Anyone got any bright ideas?  - SPAM - Changing email addresses Hello All, One of my clients is having trouble with spam. I think much of it may be due to the email addresses having been published on their website and that their email server was being used as an open relay before I came on. I stopped both of those and installed GFI to try to filter. It has gotten a better, but it is still pretty bad. I am wondering what are the necessary steps to change email handles from, for example, BobA@thecompany.com to bob.bobslastname@thecompany.com. I am not wondering so much the exact steps to do this as I believe that is straight-forward, but rather, is there a way to allow the user to check old and new accounts separately for a period of time.  - ADSL and ISA take 2 Last week we installed ADSL (Speedtouch 510,ISP is Demon). We have one IP for the router and one for the 2nd NIC in the SBS server. I ran ICW and got internet connectivity but my ISP could not telnet to port 25 for email. I could telnet from the internal network but not from a remote pc. I had to rerun ICW to get back to my ISDN router (again on the second NIC).  - rebuild AD and get exchange working Hi all, need a bit of help with a situation. using sbs2000 with AD (about 15 users) and exchange 2000. if i had xmerged the exchange information and removed my sbs2000 system disk (exchaneg is on another drive) and then installed a new drive and installed sbs2003 on it, how much trouble would i have creating AD users again? i cant imagien it will take that long and i could weed out the permision issues/ group policys later on..so thats not to bad, but here is my main question, once sbs2003 is installed and i exmerge all my 2000 data in exchaneg 2003 how would i tell exchange what AD users use what mailbox so they can have their mail again ... is such a thing possible?  - Sbs 2000 upgrade problem. Hi everyone, I have a SBS 4.5 on site and want to upgrade SBS2000 now. I tried to follow the white paper from microsoft that how to upgrade a brand new server to SBS 2000. I have a old server runs SBS 4.5 and I have a new dell server install SBS 2000 with workgroup now. My frist question is when I join the new server to the domain now, and since the MS white paper said it should join my new server with workgroup, so I can transfer all of the data from my old server to the new one such as the pri.edb and pub .edb by exmerge. However, if I runs the Exchange 2000 with my SBS 2000 which already have Active dirctory install, then how can my new server join the domain with workgroup then?? Second, since my new server runs AD now, but somehow I want to change my server name to other, can I run dcpromo.exe from SBS 2000 like Windows 2000 server does?? Thank you for all advice. We have sbs2000 with 2 nic one to the LAN on which we have a router to 64k ISDN the other is disabled now till we move office for ADSL. 1st problem exchange is downloading up to 40 pop boxes & I need to setup exchange to receive the mail directly from our ISP i.e. our ISP forwards all mail to our server. 1,a can any one let me know how to setup the server for this type of mail delivery or post a link to relevant Tec info i.e. what ip address do I need to give to our ISP for mail delivery? 2nd or exchange server keeps sending email delay reports to the sender i.e. our office workstations and dose not send the email blank or with an attachment. to the recipients?. in exchange manager when you click on servers it pop up with an error about SMTP relay not available?.  - other emial domain (not via exchange) Hi, My boss decided to start another company and now we have 2 new people working in our domain, not using exchange (nor outlook), but using a hosted POP3 server and an external SMTP server we own and manage. Using outlook express I get 550 "unable to relay.." errors while the SMTP server (that requieres authentication) is correctly configured. When I use a dialup and the modem it works fine. Also when I go through the hassle of reconfiguring IP and connect the laptop directly to the ADSL router. What does ISA do, so I cannot send email using authentication? I can ping the server... Also, when I use the full outlook client, I disable the exchange service and only have internet email, configure the accounts, the error when sending messages looks exactly the same as an exchange NDR. I have an error when trying to download files: Problem connecting to tracker - HTTP Error 407: Proxy Authentication Required (The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied) I'm told that I need to open up ports 6881 to 6889, but I'm not sure how I do this on ISA Server.  - Multiple server connections XP clients using Great Plains We have 2 XP clients using Great Plains client connecting to a Small Business Server running SQL 2000. When these users start up Great Plains they each are using multiple server connections/sessions which is eating up our limited license.  - Account lockouts occurring all the time and Exchange login problems SBS2000 on 1 server and Exchange 2000 running on a separate box (not ideal - I know but all Exchange services NOT running on SBS) I have remote users (VPN and/or Dialup - doesn't make any difference) and when they log into Exchange, they get the credentials request. They have NT Password authentication checked and sometimes, they are not even locked out! Threshold is currently set to 5 attempts. There is also another machine running Windows 2000 Server on the Network acting as a Domain Controller. Could this be causing the Authentication problems? Any help much appreciated.  - Mail from POP3 connector disappear I am receiving mail using POP3 connector on SBS2K. It used to work well when I connect with only the "Connect and Download" tab details configured (i.e. log in name and password to my ISP's POP3 server). Mails for different users will just get delivered to their respective mailboxes. For no good reason, this has stopped working and only way I get mail is to configure the individual mailing address under the "Mailing List" tab. I tried what KB suggested and deleted all the file in \Program Files\Microsoft BackOffice\Connectivity\POP3 Connector\directory Reconfigure the "Connect and Download" one more time. At present each site is connected with a dlink di-804v h/w vpn router (see link) http://www.dlink.com.au/products/routers/di804v/ that has IPSec VPN capability and are connected using a pre-shared key and 3DES encryption.  - Terminal Services logon I have a Windows 2000, SBS2000 Server and have recently setup a Terminal Server running Application sharing on a Windows 2003 Server. Logging into the terminal server is fine when on the network, but what I would like to know is how do I log into the Application Server working remotely (from home for example). I am able to log into the SBS server using the remote IP address, but my TS Application Server doesnt have a remote IP. I was thinking about usung ntbackup on the win2000 client save it on a file on the server (in a folder not backed up daily) run once in a while a backup job on the server which saves that folder on the tape. I've noticed there's an option called "full-text indexing" found under "servers" right click your server -> properties ->"full-text indexing". Mine is set to "low" could this be the cause?  - temp migrate Hi all, i am making a new "temp" server to install sbs2000 AD and exchange 2000 on. I will then be removing my old hard drive from my SBS2000 server and installing a new drive and then installing sbs2003 I have made the "temp" server so i can Migrate my current sbs2000 settings to and then migrate them back to my sbs2003 install.  - Win2K Pro Client Simple LAN with 3 workstations all Win2k Pro running from an SBS 2K 2 clients upgrade their Virus Scnner every day with no probs www.vet.com.au 1 produces errors, unable to locate the profile directory etc. I have now just upgraded the accounting package on this workstation, installed as administrator to do so and ensured the icons were listed in "all users" when I log in as the user required the icons do not appear in her start menu. I have logged in as admin, deleted her profile director and then logged the user in again to recreated the profile dir but still the same problem exists ? Any ideas ?  - Outlook XP wont start Hi Can any help with this? 2 new SBS2000 installs, both with XP clients and Office XP Pro OWA works fine any PC. Outlook works if run as local admin and manual paths to the Exchange server. But when opening OL for the first time as a new user the EULA appears and is acceted, the User name and initials are accepted, there is a pause and OL disapears. Further attempts to start OL simply show the program, complete with any email in the inbox but then disapears after a pause. You see, the thing is that my laptop was in the university's network where this antivirus Trend Officescan was also installed.  - Problem Exchange 2000 SMTP bandwidth Hello! I have a little problem with an Exchange 2000 Server. The Server is connected via a 748/128 DSL-Line to the=20 internet. Some users usually send mail to up to 5000=20 recipients. Now when they do that, the Internet can not be=20 used anymore, because Exchange takes the whole Upstream=20 bandwidth for sending the mails.. Can I somehow limit the bandwidth for exchanges=B4 SMTP?  - VPN Hi, I have a sbs 2000 server that I can VPN into from home. The connection is made , but when I go to the command prompt to put in my server name and share name and hit enter, nothing comes back except "unable to find path". It has been working fine up until now. I restarted RRAS but it made no diff. It seems that looking at the sending and recieving bytes counter on the VPN display bar that the sever is not sending anything back.( obviously because the path is not found). I have checked ISA and there is nothing out of the ordinary. This hopefully means that if my sbs2000 dies, people can still logon via the replication server. My question is , Should my main SBS 2000 go down, people won't get email. Is there a way either using another win 2k server, or using my ISP to provide fault tolerance so users can still get email. I can't afford to buy a fresh copy of Exchange! What size was the Exchange DB before/after defragmentation? How does it compare to ESEUTIL? You can just add it with Microsoft Small Business Setup. Tick the items you
want to install and make sure it is in maintainance mode.
