Hi

SBS 2000, mostly XP pro clients, 1x Win98SE client. Internet access via
dial-up on server modem through ISA. Network Associates anti virus.
Win98SE client running McAfee v4.5.1 with hotfix, OL2002, Word 97, Excel 97,
Sage Line 50 (UK network accounts package). All XP clients are running the
same software. A previous failed login issue found on the Win98 client was
found to be due to InCD packet writing TSR.

The Win98SE client occasionally gets locked out of the network. (SBS Admin
console, Users, Account, Account is locked out.) The problem is fixed by
unchecking the box, however this happens every few days.

The help file says that this can happen after too many incorrect logons,
however the user does not login incorrectly.

Does anyone know why this user is getting locked out please? The user owns
the company!

Regards
Nick

Anything insightful in the server's security logs? You might have to up the
logging levels to record failures. Maybe something in the log entries or
the timing will help to narrow this down.

IMO no one, especially the boss, should be running 9x. How about giving him
an upgrade, during which you're likely to lose this problem (or at least
make it much easier to diagnose).

Got WINS installed? W98 needs it. Also options 044 and 046 (0x8) in
DHCP-server, Scope options.

Thanks Dave

We're checking the logs today. An upgrade for the boss is now being planned.
