Hi! I have to give a public thanks for all of your help over the last
couple of weeks--especially Saturday and Sunday. You have went way above
and beyond what any/most newsgroup support person would ever provide. I am
extremely greatful and so is the company I work for.

Your knowledge and experience of SBS and networking is above anybody else I
know. I was greatful for some advice, but you basically took me under your
wings and provided support superior to any I've ever received from MS
Support.

I can never provide the level of knowledge you have to pay you back, but if
you ever run across issues with custom program design and programming, I may
be able to help.

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Marcia

His fellow MVPs are in awe of that trait in Les. He will lead you hand
in hand and thread by thread and get you back on track. He won't give
up either.

Les is defintely MORE ;-)

I agree. He definitely doesn't give up. I can point to two specifically (of
many other threads I have started). One has 27 posts, one has 45. If I
recall, one went into the very late hours of the evening.

You're all too kind. It comes with the territory, I'm told.

Anyway, an explanation.

Marcia inherited an SBS2k installation. In newsgroup postings, it became
obvious that her SBS was so far off standard that it was impossible to give
troubleshooting advice that would normally work for SBS.

So we took this one off group. Somebody did their best to tweak the sbs hard
enough to more closely resemble wk2. Most of the SBS wizardry was defunct.

It took a bit of sleuthing, but Marcia and I put in a few hours and we now
have it working. It will never work like SBS2k was intended to work, but it
will live out it's days as a productive server, doing the things asked of
it.

Sometimes the newsgroup isn't the best forum to solve problems, especially
when there are lots of them and you can't see the other person's system.

But the important part is that the road to recovery can start here and end
here, even though it may take a few detours along the way.

Hi Les,

You didn't give yourself enough credit. A few hours * 6 and 300+%. I
can never express how much I appreciated all that you did. I, even with
your concern of getting SBS2003 implemented in my scenerio, can't wait to
get a system configured the way it should be. I've played with SBS2003 beta
and liked much of what I saw. I have never had problems with NT4 like I've
experienced with this system.

I think this system, as sbs2k, will find a happy resting place the early
part of next year. I have to prepare a budget during the month of December
(while I'm off recovering from surgery). The budget will certainly propose
a new server, scrapping this software, probably installing Win2003 on the
existing server and having it as an additional member server. I have lots
of research to do.

Again I can't thank you enough. And, yes...I'm jealous of your
knowledge and expertise. But, Susan Bradley told me months ago in a
newsgroup posting to just take "baby steps". Thanks to all of
you--especially you Les.

Marcia
