Hi,
I want to install Microsoft SQL server 2000 in server
running SBS 2000.
Sql server is not installed inside SBS from before.
The question is:
- I need a database with size of 10 GB.The technical
guys says that the SQL server which is inside the SBS
does not allow the database size more than 1 GB. Is it
true?
-the same guyes says that some SBS files can be damaged
if I install the MS SQL server - is it true?

Any help is greatly appreciated

I'd suggest you get New IT Guys.

The Max Size of a Database in SQL Server as provided with SBS 2000 is 1
TERABYTE. - One thousand gigabytes.

Even an MSDE and Jet for Access 2000+ has a Max Size of 2 GB and AFAIK
the only MS Database with a 1 GB Limit was Jet pre Access 2000.

It is also -not- the case that SQL Server on SBS causes any damage to
SBS files. It's a total nonsense.

I think with the 100s of Thousands of SBS 2000 Premium with SQL Server
installs we'd have heard about it by now.
Perhaps if these Guys have specific evidence of such corruption they
would care to post it here so we can investigate and resolve it for the
good of all users.

( ...and as a double check in the millions of Usenet posts in Google
Archives I can't find one instance of such a claim )

Agreed.

Oh no it isn't. The maximum size of a SQL Server database in SBS2000 is
1,048,516 TB. That's right, just over 1 million terabytes.

MSDE has a 2Gb database limit. And who cares about Jet anyway... <eg>

Agreed.
