    - transparent controls Is it possible to make the background color of controls (such as group boxes, lables, text boxes and check boxes, tabpage ) to transparent? In case you need more information, I have added some code to the form_paint method to paint the background with a gradiant. I need to get the controls on the form to match the same look. The only alternative I could come up with was to create an image with the color gradiant, and setting that to the background of the form and controls - which really seems to be a silly approach.     - question about referesh My problem is like this, I draw my form using d3d function, it draws well. But the problem is everytime When call form->Refresh to ask the form to be redraw, it will use the forms's backcolor to clear the form first. This make the image on the form blinking.     - Launching IE, with encrypted parameters, to an SSL website I have a Windows Forms application where I request a username/password from the user. When the user clicks a button, I would like to launch IE to a given page on my SSL webserver and send along the username/password pair that was provided by the user. I understand how to open IE to a specific website from a Windows Forms application using the System.Diagnostics.Process.Start method, but I don't know how to include the username and password as form fields in that request (so they'll be encrypted during transmission). Obviously I don't want to include that data as part of the QueryString ... My only thought is that I can create a temporary HTML on the client side which contains the username/password in hidden form fields and does something like onLoad="form.submit();" But this solution seems messy...     - Code Editor using ListView for line numbers Hi, I am making a code editor and want to display line numbers to the left. I have a UserControl with a ListView docked to the left edge and a TextBox that makes up the rest. I am able to add items to the ListView when a new line is entered in the TextBox (these items are the line numbers). What I am not able to figure out is how to update the view of the ListView when the TextBox starts scrolling vertically.     - Orphaned ControlBox in MDI child So, I have this MDI application. Occasionally, if I have a few MDI children open, and then close one of them, the ControlBox for the MDI children becomes duplicated, right next to one another in the far upper right hand corner, below the ControlBox for the MDI parent. It has the appearrance of Minimize, Maximize, Close, Minimize, Maximize, Close(except it looks like the Underscore, Line at top of box, Capital X duplicated). Both of the ControlBoxes seem to work. However, if I close all of the MDI children, after the last one is closed, there is still a ControlBox remaining, orphaned, below the ControlBox for the MDI parent?     - ADSI with NT 40 I created a windows form in Csharp. I successfully installed the application on the target computer. The OS is NT40 with the latest service pack on it and .Net Framework 1.1. I also went to Microsoft website and download the ADSI for NT 40 and installed it on the target computer. The application (using ADSI) is looking at the NT group of the user that is currently logged in. When I launched the application, ther error came up and displayed a message saying: Can not find RADMIN32.DLL in the system32 directory. The machine where I developed it has Windows 2000.     - Guidance needed with Drag and Drop style calander Hi, I'm currently pondering how to write a simple scheduling app in VB.Net that displays a horizontal monthly timeline of days, from left to write, and then colour coded bookings for each of the resource in a grid format underneath. When creating bookings I would like to be able to highlight the days that the booking spans for a resource, just like in Outlook Calendar where you can create an appointment by highlighting the number of half-hours it spans. Subsequently I would like to be able to resize the appointment, and drag and drop it either elsewhere in the persons timeline, or across to another persons timeline. It goes without saying that I would need to keep track of the booking movements before they are saved to the database. I have searched high and low for example code that would allow me to perform such functioality, but to no avail.     - problem with axwebbrowser on tabcontrol in usercontrol Hoping someone can help me here..... I have seen numerous references from other people with a similar problem..... I have a Windows Forms usercontrol which contains a tab control with two tab pages, each of which contains an axWebBrowser control. I am navigating each axWebBrowser to a different word document, but, when I click on the second tab page, the second web browser does not appear.     - Drag and Drop of Class Instance I've been experimenting with drag and drop. I have a program which displays a DataSet in a DataGrid. I have sucessfully used the MouseDown event to locate the appropriate DataRow and to pass it to DoDragDrop. When I drop it, I see an item of type DataFormats.Serializable. But what do I do with the data that comes back when you use e.Data.GetData? It's a System.__ComObject, and I don't know what to do with it. Can anyone point me to an exanple or article on doing this?     - Painting over an ActiveX-Control Hello, I am working on an enhanced HTML-Editor based on DHTMLEdit. So I created a subclass like that: public class HTMLEditor : AxDHTMLEDLib.AxDHTMLEdit I have created a lot of functions to insert Tables, Images, etc. Edit them, drag Table cells, etc... What I now basically want is to draw my own stuff in the editing window on top of that which is drawn anyway by DHTMLEdit. For example a grid like Visual Studio .NET does in HTML-View. Or drawing boxes over tables which the mouse is hovering like Frontpage 2003 does... I use the System.IO.DirectoryInfo to open information about the specific directory. I am then trying to query all of the images in that folder whether the extension be .jpg, gif, or bmp. So far I have not had any luck passing more than one extension to 'GetFiles(String searchPattern). Is there a way to pass more than one extension to this method?     - Font Class - a big performance eater? I was curious if anybody else noticed this fact. Everytime you use the font class, especially creating multiple instances of the Font class in an iteration, there is a significant performance hit. The way I noticed was due to a bug in my code. I have a list class where each item is a separate object with various properties, among which a Font. At some point I wanted to test my list with a lot of items so I made a loop that was creating like 10000 items, but I used a constructor that passes a font too and I used new Font(...). To my surprize and astonishement, it took an average of 7 milliisecond for the framework to create each item. I got into a sort of panic, as I thought that my event model was too extensive or I forget to dispose some objects. It turned up that when I removed the Font object from the costructor with a null, the average time went from 7 milliseconds to 0.02 miliseconds!! That is like 350 times faster... Now I am even worried about any place that I might use the font constructor. Did anybody noticed this behavior in other instances? When it loads from a remote server, it cannot get any settings from the app.config file. In trying to locate the problem, I have tested the following things: 1. The application works flawlessly when deployed via XCopy. 2. The application works flawlessly when accessed on my own machine via http://localhost. 3. The app.config file is accessible. I can browse to it manually and download it. 4. The app.config file is being downloaded by the application and stored in the IE browser cache, but is still not accessible to the application. 5.
