    - How to write IExtenderProvider control for .NET CF? Hi, I searched all over the net and I can't find no info how to do this, other then this post http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=158930&SiteID=1. I would like to rewrite this example http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.componentmodel.iextenderprovider.aspx for Compact Framework, and I would like to do it VS2005 way. VS2005 suggests to use .xmta file which will produce *.PocketPC.asmmeta.dll file. The article I found also suggests to create yet another library where the designer would be. Does this mean that now instead of distributing two libraries (one for runtime one for design time) I have to distribute three (an extra *.PocketPC.asmmeta.dll)? I have a hard time to believe it.     - Best practice for saving objects owned by objects Let's say that I have a class called Customer and a class called CustomerAddress. Now, further suppose that the Customer class has a property called _CustomerAddresses, which is List(Of CustomerAddress). Now, there's a form to edit a Customer, on which the user can click on a SAVE button to save changes, or on a CANCEL button to cancel any changes that they have made. In addition, on the Customer form, the user can make changes to the different CustomerAddress's that belong to the Customer (i.e. add, edit, remove). A separate form is used for adding or editing a CustomerAddress. For example, the user could select a CustomerAddress, in a grid, and then click on an EDIT button, at which point the Customer Address form is shown modally. On the Customer Address form, the user can also click on SAVE or CANCEL. Now, here's where the question comes in. The way that I am implementing this is that, if the user clicks on CANCEL for the Customer, any adds, edits, or deletes of CustomerAddress records associated with that Customer are disregarded/discarded. I'm not trying to use the URL parameters - I just want to get the deployment URL. I've selected the "Allow URL parameters to be passed to application" option, but the ApplicationURI is still null.     - Problems with UNICODE Characters for superscript 4,5,6,7,8,9 Hi, We have an application that has its own character map. Everything is working fine until yesterday. We got a new requirement which was to add superscript numbers from 0-9. Numbers 1,2,3 are display correctly. The issue is the 0, 4-9. With those characters I got the square on my Rich Text Box. The funny thing is, if I copy/paste one of them from Windows Character Map, after that all character will work using our character map. The way I'm passing the characters from our C.M to the Rich Text Box is the follow: Clipboard.SetText(CType(sender, UIButton).Text, TextDataFormat.UnicodeText) and Me.m_CurrentRTB.Text = Clipboard.GetData(System.Windows.Forms.DataFormats.UnicodeText) Does anyone had this issue before?     - Databinding to a Custom Control's Textbox I have a custom control that comprises of a label and a textbox. I have added the Design Time Properties for the designer to select the DataSource and DataMember, those seem to work fine at Design Time. But at Run Time the TextBox remains empty. How do I "Wire Up" the DataSource/Datamember so that the data shows in the TextBox? But MSDN tells that there can be only one child control in each cell .     - Document.GetElementsByTagName(...) returns no elements I have C# .NET 2.0 code that behaves incorrectly only when run on one Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) machine with .NET 2.0 installed. And then, only the first time. And then, only when run from a CDrom. It will not fail on the local disk or network share. I have a WindowsForms application with a WebBrowser class on a form. In the DocumentCompleted event, I do... HtmlElementCollection divTags = webBrowser1.Document.GetElementsByTagName("div"); These documents are static docs loaded from the application directory. The document which has the DIV tag is loaded and the collection shows a count of zero the first time it is run on this machine from a CDrom. After that, it finds the DIV tag everytime. If I reboot, we are back to not finding it the first time. Right before the GetElementsByTagName() method, I dumped the Document.Text to the log file - indeed, there is the DIV tag. Any ideas?     - Popup window on top of another popup Hi guys, I have a grid editor, with cells (DevExpress). I have a custom cell edit, which contains two other edits. When I click the cell, I get the first popup edit. When I click the other controls contained in this popup, another window pops up. The problem is that the moment I click inside the second popup, the first one disappears, and as a consequence, the second one disappears too. Intermittent problems of some selection events went away. My question is : were the glitches I observed using the first technique possibly a result of threading problems involving separate independent top-level winforms ? Another hypothesis : the .net TreeView (now, like me, so long in the tooth :) is, as we all know, a wrapper around a COM control ... issues related to COM ? My sense is that it is "best practice" to have objects raise public events from their own internal private events, rather than have "alien objects" subscribe directly to events of objects, but in the case where the secondary objects (winforms in this case) are being created at run-time by a "master object" it is "tempting" to just subscribe to their events there.     - Overriding dataset connection Hi I have a windows form app with one master table and several details (grids). As I am filling both the master and details using vs 2005 generated dataset and data adapters, there are multiple connection open/close during the whole operation (one connection open/close per adapter fill). Is there a way to override the vs generated connection management code to open the connection only once at start, do all fills and then close the connection at the end, to speed up the whole fill process? As dumping the vs 2008 dataset altogether will involve too much code writing, I am reluctant to let go of it and would prefer to only override the connection management if I can.     - Problem Drawing in a ListBox Subclass Good afternoon, everyone. I've subclassed ListBox to draw an icon next to each line, and it works! Except for one thing... when drawing items, it seems that SelectedItems and SelectedIndices is not perfectly current. This means that if I use it to draw, in some cases I may draw an item highlighted when it shouldn't be, or vice-versa. This mostly happens when dragging to select multiple entries. My temporary solution is to force a Refresh after every SelectionChanged event, but this makes the list less responsive. Basically, I'd like it to paint just like a normal listbox. So far I've only used this with an extended multi-select list box. This is the relevant code in my subclass: // Constructor: ... I would like to be able to read a PDF, and draw it onto the GDI+ drawing surface, along with other commands that I would draw on the surface, to then print it. You can get your copy from http://www.codeplex.com/netmassdownloader .NET Mass Downloader Welcome to the .NET Mass Downloader project. While it's great that Microsoft has released the .NET Reference Source Code, you can only get it one file at a time while you're debugging. If you'd like to batch download it for reading or to populate the cache, you'd have to write a program that instantiated and called each method in the Framework Class Library. Fortunately, .NET Mass Downloader comes to the rescue! Using .NET Mass Downloader Open a command or PowerShell prompt and navigate to where you extracted the current release. The tool itself is NetMassDownloader.exe and when run without parameters shows the following help screen: .Net Mass Downloader 1.0.0.0 - (c) 2008 by Kerem Kusmezer, John Robbins Batch download the Microsoft .NET Reference Source code. Usage: NetMassDownloader [-file <file>] [-directory <directory] [-output <directory>] [-vsver <version>] [-force] [-nologo] [-verbose] [-?] -file - Download an individual file's PDB and source code. You can specify multiple file parameters. (Short -f). -directory - Download all the found PDB and source code for all files in the specified directory. You can specify multiple directory parameters (Short -d). -output - The output directory for PDB and source files. The default directory is the cache directory set in Visual Studio 2008. By using the cache directory, you'll have the PDB and source files available to Visual Studio 2008. The main purpose of Net Mass Downloader is to populate the source code download cache for debugging, the default download location is the cache you specified to Visual Studio 2008. While it's great to see the .NET Reference Source Code in Visual Studio 2008, there are a lot of developers out there who can't upgrade yet, but would love to be able to debug into the .NET Reference Source Code. If you specify the -output parameter, the PDB and .NET Reference Source Code will be written to the specified directory. In Visual Studio 2005, place that directory in the Options dialog, Debugging, Symbols property page. In the "Symbol file (.pdb) locations" list box as the first item. Also in the Options dialog, Debugging, General property page, uncheck "Require source files to exactly match the original version." Finally, in each Visual Studio 2005 project go into the solution property pages, Common Properties, Debugging Source Files, and in the "Directories containing source code" add the output directory to the top of the list.     - Relative path that works in development and after deployment I was wondering if somebody could show me on how to use relative path in windows application that will work during DEVELOPMENT as well as after DEPLOYMENT. In short, here's my situation. During development the files in my project are located as follows: MyProject\bin\Release\MyApplication.exe MyProject\Settings\MyXMLFile.xml During development I use this syntax to load to MyXMLFile.xml from the .exe: xmlDocument.Load(@"..\..\Settings\MyXMLFile.xml"); Everything was fine until after I deployed the project whereas the file location now changed to: C:\Program Files\MyProject\MyApplication.exe C:\Program Files\MyProject\Settings\MyXMLFile.xml Now I started to get an error message stating that file 'C:\Settings\MyXMLFile.xml doesn't exist'. Please keep in mind these limitations: 1. I do not want to hard-code the relative path in app.config, I just want to use relative path. 2.     - Fast control for bus monitor I am writing a bus monitor / protocol analyzer using VS 2005 C++/CLI. Currently I am using a RichTextBox to display the messages. I am adding each message with AppendText. This seems to be very slow; the RichTextBox cannot keep up with the speed at which the messages come in. I'm using a standard NumericUpDown control on a form, and trying to change the increment depending if a Control.ModifierKeys is pressed when the mouse scrollwheel is moved. Default increment is 0.5 When Keys.Control is pressed and I roll the mousewheel, the increment is adjusted to 5 and the ValueChanged event firest. Great. But when Keys.Shift is pressed and I roll the mousewheel, the increment is adjust to 1 BUT ValueChanged does not fire, so the value in NumericUpDown doesn't get adjusted. Not so great. I'm really confused as to why Shift would not cause ValueChanged to fire.     - TabControl stealing focus I have some code in the form that processes a change event for a textbox. It modifies a property of an object which causes a separate visible TabControl to rebuild the tab pages. The tabcontol is calling rebuilding the tab page collection for the new object generated based on the property change. The problem is when I remove or clear the tabs my textbox loses focus and the TabControl gets focus. Is there anyway I can prevent this?     - UserControls? I am a web developer by trade, but have done a little with winforms. How can I add a winforms user control to an application without having to create a separate project for each control? From what I have been reading, you need to create a project for the user control, build it, and then add it to the tool box. Once it is in the tool box you can drag it onto the form or other control.     - DataGridView & TabPages Hi, This is my first message to this group. I've already search the web, google, this group, found some clues to my problem but found no solution or workaround. So please let me explain my problem: I'm developing an application, which has custom UserControls containing DataGridView controls being put inside TabPages of a TabControl at runtime (I hope this made sense). Well, those are being added dinamically at runtime simply because VisualStudio keeps deleting my controls due to a bug in the designer. This is a issue, but the problem I'm facing now is other. Then, the window is maximized in the second image, and you can notice the grid didn't resize itself. Now, the third image reveals that the 'gap' produced is indeed not being redraw at all. The DataGridView is anchored on the four directions inside the UserControl, which is set to DockStyles.Fill inside the tab page. An interesting thing is, everything happens normally _before_ the data has been loaded and the data is bound. The same occurs backwards, i.e. If I load the data when the window is maximized and then resize it, the DataGridView gets bigger than its container control and becomes corrupted. I'm pretty sure this is a bug in the framework (I'm using 2.0) dealing with DataGridViews being put inside TabPages. If someone has already face this problem, please let me know. If nothing else works, I would like to know how I could force a complete redraw, or a re-bind after I completed a resize move. Hello...I just installed IE7. I am running WinXP SP2. I am not able to open
a "New Tab", this feature is grey-shaded in the File dropdown toolbar. I am
only able to choose "New Window" feature. Does anyone know of this problem?
Can this be fixed?

Open Internet Options and on the General tab click the Settings button
under Tabs and check "Enable tabbed browsing".
