When trying to run this project on old .NET IDE 2002 it is throws the following exception: System.InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid.     - SEHException when running on XP I'm developing a WindowsApp using VB.NET under .NET 1.1. Development and target OS is W2K SP4. Everything is running fine in W2K but when I try to run under XP some strange things happens when closing the application dialogs. A SEHException is thrown somewhere where I cannot catch it, the only place to catch it is where the call to Application.Run() is done. During earlier stage of the development the app was running fine in XP, I also has turned on the XP VisualStyle. But now it doesn't work on XP! Why? Is there anyone that have a clue?     - How to handle Control-C (copy) AFTER form has done it I have a dialog box that has an icon for "paste". I want to enable it if there is text on the clipboard. How do I check for other parts of my dialog (e.g. textboxes) that may allow a ctrl-c.     - Framework version error? A very strange one with a VB.net windows forms thing. Anyone seen anything like this or have any other comments? The history... Straightforward application created in VS 2002 running perfectly happily on machines running version 1.0 of the framework. I come across a bug in the app that (after discussion with MS) is fixed by upgrading to VS 2003 and framework 1.1. I upgrade the app (i.e. open the project in 2003, VS says "Do you want to upgrade?" etc). I upgrade client machines by running the 1.1 framework installer and install the updated app. This was about a month ago. For two weeks the app works fine. Then it goes wrong. Intermittently. There's a particular routine that involves writing data to SQL 2K that it fails on. Meaningless error message. Something about the index is 0 is non-negative and less than the total number of rows (no real detail there because I don't think it's relevant.) Rerun the app and everything is fine. Sometimes. Do something like reinstall the mdac and everything works fine for a while and then collapses again. We fall back onto another machine set up in apparently the exact same way where it works perfectly. This has been the situation for the last two weeks. Tonight a colleague finds an .ini file under documents and settings\username which includes information about what framework is being used (can't remember exactly, but search for .ini modified in the last day and it leaps out). This says that the machine that's going wrong is still using the 1.0 framework. Huh? We have now tried uninstalling the old framework and reran the app. The ini file is now claiming that it's using 1.1. Don't know, as yet, whether this is a fix or not. Were we supposed to uninstall the old framework before installing the new? Have I missed something there?     - XP Visual Styles on UserControl in IE (Framework 1.1) I have an IE BandObject that is derived from : UserControl, IObjectWithSite, IDeskBand, IDockingWindow, IOleWindow, IInputObject This control uses DrawThemeParentBackground( this.Handle, hdc, ref rect) to get the parent IE rebar control's gradient background to be drawn under XP. Everything was drawing "fine", up until the point that I added a ToolBar (or a PictureBox, or...) to my bandObject that was docked Left . The Layout is fine - Z-Order correct, etc. -this is only a painting problem related to OnPaintBackground in this class, from all that I can see ;) Now, everything has gone to hell - the background isn't being painted correctly on EITHER a standard toolbar (docked Left) OR a ToolBar-derived class docked Fill. It's CRAZY - even the DIRECTION that MouseOver occurs in (right-to-left, the background paints fine, left-to-right, the background paints each button black in what appears to be the size of the first item in the BandObject - the ToolBar or PictureBox that is docked Left. This seems like it should be fairly straightforward, but there seems to be some kind of interaction between UxTheme and (docking?) I am mucking with the DisplayRectangle of the BandObject (shrinking the width to allow for a small button on the rigt side of the control (a LOT smaller than the area that isn't painting the background correctly).     - Edit a cell in DataGrid I have a Windows DataGrid with 6 columns. The DataSource is a DataTable that gets populated based on user request. Column 5 & 6 are Expression columns based on Columns 1 & 2 and Columns 3 & 4 repectively. In the DataGrid I wanto do a few things. 1)Allow user to modify columns 3 - 6. 2)When the user is editing a column he can press Enter or Tab and the change will be accepted. At this moment the user needs to click on a different column or different object. 3)I can make edit Columns 5 & 6 but as soon as I loose focus my chages are not accepted and only the Expression value is acceped.     - Nasty flickering by OnPaint Graphics.Invalidate Using: VS 2003 NET C# for Framework and Framework Compact Trying : Moving a Card (Bitmap) as in Solitare (PC + WinCe) Version on OnMouseMove Problem : The affected drawing Area by Invalidate (or Invalidate(Rectangle)) flickers in a nasty way when repainting. This does not happen in the Solitare (PC + WinCe) Versions a well as in a Card game where I have the C++ Source. The use of an empty OnPaintBackground brings no visable results. The OnPaint calls a Method, which builds a new Bitmap with a local Graphics. When finished OnPaint does one DrawImage Command (flicker). OnPaint is painting to a Panel. Is this a Framework problem ? Can a flicker free Painting only be done with some sort of Win-API. - Goal is for this Class to run with the same code on both Systems. If yes, what would it look like inside a Framework program ? This seems to the last major problem (as of yet) that I have in realising a game programm and it would be very nice if this problem could be solved.     - Decent image control Hi there, I need to show an image centered on a form. That's easy, use a Picturebox... problem is the images may be different sizes, and I need to resize to show the image with the correct aspect ratio (ie: height vs width)... sometimes the image will be too big to fit on the form so then I'd like scrollbars... I need like a "shrink/stretch to fit" method which understands the aspect ratio bit.... Is it me or is the picturebox control pretty useless...? Can anybody suggest a way of achieving what I want with standard .Net controls... or am I going to have to subclass the picturebox (or make my own version)...? Any help appreciated... When I closing the window, I would like to save any changes that was made.     - Control.Update method Hello: I have an application that performs a long process, it shows a progress bar to help users dont get into panic, but, if I move another window over my application's main form, the applications starts looking like if it was "not responding". I try using the Update method, because the documentation says it "Executes any pending requests for painting." But it is not working at all. I tried Refresh(), but it invalidates all the area, and the whole application blinks. Another way i tried is callind Application.DoEvents (), It works, but it also allows users to clik on menus, close windows and I don't want that.     - datagrid tablestyles child data Hi, I'm trying to get the tablestyle to populate when I navigate ("drill down") to the child data in a datagrid. I have the tablestyle mappingname set to the child table, but it still uses the "default" (all the cols in the table with their col name) setting. I've tried defining programmatically (clearing all the cols and colstyles and adding one at a time), and setting a couple cols for the tablestyle using the designer, but no luck.     - WindowsForms Data Binding Over Internet Hi Guys, I have been doing a lot of research on what is the best architecture to bind a WindowsForms Application to data across the Internet. Scenario: My company is hosting all data in SQLServer2000 and running IIS/ASPNET The Client applications will be deployed outside our network. Its a typical scenario, but seems like there is too many solutions:) Is Remoting a more efficient way to expose all data manipulation objects, does it need to be synchronized from scratch for all data updating and binding?? I have tried to modify the both the background and foreground colors of
selected cells in a DataGrid using the SelectionBackColor and the
SelectionForeColor properties of both the DataGrid itself and its only
DataGridTableStyle - to no effect. Selected cells continue to be
displayed in the standard white ond dark blue text on a grey background.

Ideas anyone?
