When I place them on top of a panel using a .wmf file as its background I see the form's color poking through the transparent corners of my buttons instead of the pretty .wmf image.     - Icon in Task Bar Hi, I have a VB.Net winforms program that monitors some report folder. All works well in that respect. I have the program start 'Minimized' and I also have the program automatically start when the system starts. However, the program sits Minimized as a big block in the Task Bar (Bar at bottom with the 'Start' button). What i'd really like is to have it be displayed as just an Icon with the collection of icons over on the right in the task bar near the clock.     - Sorting TreeView Hello, Standard Tree.Sorted property doesn't sort nodes like I want to. It just place them in a specific place while adding new node. This is not suitable for me, because during insertion I don't know node's name so it is placed in the end of all nodes. To make things clear I will cover some source code. Sorting works fine when I do like this: TreeNode newNode = TreeNode("Title"); Tree.Nodes.Add (newNode); This is my situation. As you see, when I add new node, I don't know its name so the sorting doesn't work. TreeNode newNode = TreeNode(); Tree.Nodes.Add (newNode); newNode.Text = "Title"; I need to be my tree sorted at any moment. Even when I change any node's name - it's place in the tree should be changed. What would you suggest for me? Is there any standard solutions or I should write my own sorting procedure?     - Crash if I rename Column Name Hello, there, I am using DataGrid to bind an ArrayList of an user-defined class. The user-defined class contains some public properties. Among these public properties, one is of type ArrayList which is used to hold objects of another user-defined class. If I don't define column name by myself, the program works perfect.     - VS 2003 Designer bug? -- Duplicate declaration error Hi, I have a very simple custom control (just a button with a bitmap background). Sometimes when I add several of the controls to a form and run the app the last one or two controls appear to lose their properties and are redrawn blank at the top left of the form. I finally noticed that when this happens there's an item in the task list that says : "Duplicate declaration of member 'Font'", though the build is successful. The app runs fine (all controls in their proper place) and the .cs file is fine. It's just that the designer goes a little crazy. I've found several posts about this (mostly the same message, but sometimes with member 'Location' or 'Size'), but most people think it was just a problem with an early version of Visual Studio 2003. I've got the June 2004 version and don't have a clue what I can do to solve this. I'd appreciate any help! Especially if someone from MS could look up the error message. I tried msdn, but don't find it. To attempt to recreate copy several of the same custom control onto a form. I can usually make the bug occur when I copy/paste 12-15 instances of the control.     - How do you use one dataset in multiple forms? I have an application with a form that has bound controls to dataset.tables. I have an Add button that brings up a modal form and I'd like to work with the same instance of the dataset to insert new records and use combo boxes that are populated from that dataset. The dataset gets filled when the parent form loads. When I load the modal form I've tried accessing the dataset in the parent form but I'm not having any luck. Any help appreciated.     - Exception Handling and Call stack unwinding Hi all, Am experiencing a problem with the Application.ThreadException event which the documentation indicates is fired in the event of an unhandled exception. It seems to be ignoring the exception handling further down the call stack - in fact it never seems to unwind the call stack at all. I am not sure if this is me doing something wrong or will that event fire in the event of any exception being raised that is not caught within the same routine or possibly even the calling routine? So the question is does the event fire before or after the unwinding of the call stack and if its before, does it stop the callstack unwinding? I presume you have to use XML classes, however my experience using xml is next to none.     - Win98 - Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your Setup. Hi, I'm trying to run a Windows Forms (C#) application. It runs well on Win XP and W2K. Yet on Windows 98 we receive an error just before or while the GUI is being rendered (after displaying a splash screen, which is working on Win98). The error is 'Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your Setup.' This error *has* been posted several times. I tried all the solution mentioned (Remove [STAThread], check if my resource files are there (the app is localized, but the resource files are there), download the needed (?) language packages, reinstall the framework,...) To no avail. The error keeps appearing. Also after reinstalling the application. We tried building a giant try-catch block to write a log about the error, but the log is never being written. We tried to use Filemon but that didn't give much information about where exactly the error occurs. The error seems to be an obvious reference to resource files missing.     - Smart Client I have a Windows Forms application that can run as a SmartClient. I am able to share the application .exe over a LAN by doing the following: 1) Create a reaonly share on the folder that contains the .exe 2) Have network users connect to the share and run the .exe This all works, but leaves a couple of things to be desired: 1) The share shows all the assemblies in the folder. This is kind of ugly. I would prefer that the user only see the .exe and not all the other .exes and .dlls in the folder. (Any suggestions)? 2) I would like to expose the .exe in a web page. I tried adding the .exe as a hyperlink in a web page. But when the user selects the hyperlink, they get an ugly message about how executables can be dangerous for their system.     - VScrollBar: Must BLINK to process key hits like Home, End, Page Up, ... ???? I want a VScrollBar that does NOT blink, and still recognizes the Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Arrow Up, Arrow Down keys. Unfortunately, the Arrow Keys will always return focus to the VScrollBar. Then, if I set focus to my user control every time the VScrollBar value changes, the VScrodoesn't recognize the Home, End, Page Up, Page Down keys. This is NUTS!     - Need some advice on a toolbar on a form I have a toolbar on a form. It has buttons like Close, Save, Cancel, Add, Edit, Delete etc. When the form is displayed the user can't save or cancel anything yet. and when the use clicks on add they can save or cancel but they can't do anything else.     - PrinterStatus? I'm trying to grab printer status for a printer with WMI I got a mo("PrinterState").tostring of "128" for a paused HP printer. What is "128" equate to? It did give a mo("PrinterStatus").tostring of 1 = "paused" which was correct but it took a while to display the correct state.     - DrawImageUnscaled appears to draw image to incorrect size Using vb.net 1.1 I'm trying to draw an image to a form using the 'DrawImageUnscaled' method. it seems that some images are drawn to the correct size, and some are 10 or 20% larger and I haven't found anything in the different images that would contribute to this. I have an application that's failing only when it's run on a Japanese Win2KPro SP4 system because a form is receiving a resize event "prematurely", or at least before the form is prepared to receive it. With dotNet 1.1 installed, the application works as expected on US-English, German and Italian systems, but fails on the Japanese system. I see that the system does NOT have the Japanese dotNet Framework installed; could this be the problem? The error messages do come out in Japanese though. Is there a documented or known difference in the order events are fired in form creation in a Japanese system?     - DataGrid notification of cell changing in DataTable. Hi. I am developing an application for testing purposes to display realtime information from an external data source. Data is put into a DataTable I create programmatically. There are a number of DataViews associated with this DataTable, each looking at parts of the table. Each DataView is associated with a DataGrid. My question: How do I detect when a particular CELL has changed (to format differently)? I have detected whole rows changing using the DataView.ListChanged event. However, this does not give me column information. I then tried to use DataTable.ColumnChanged events to record which columns were changing, and then using Listchanged on the dataview to update the correct cell on the datagrid. However, as there is more than one dataview looking at the datatable, this is not possible, as it is not possible to know if the column changed event is relevant to the current dataview or not? Is there some easy way to do this? I have been investigating using DataView.Find, but it seems to rely on a whole lot of unnecessary stuff, ColumnChanged already returns a Datacolumn and DataRow, is there a fast way to convert these to DataColumnView and DataRowView without iterating over everything in the table? I am trying to delete some controls from a windows form but the VS 2003
designer doesn't allow me to do that. Simply the Cut, Copy, Paste and Delete
options aren't available. The form isn't readonly. I am just hiding the
controls I don't want anymore but the form is getting clogged.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

What happens when you try the obvious...

Click on the control and then press the delete key on your keyboard.
